Netflix’s Chumbak trailer introduces five Chembur families caught in arguments, gossip, divorce drama and hilarious neighbourhood interference.
Chumbak Trailer Brings Chembur Colony to Life
Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Chumbak, a warm and chaotic family comedy featuring Neena Gupta, Deven Bhojani, Sumeet Raghavan, Sandeepa Dhar, Arjun Bijlani and Helly Shah. Set in Mumbai’s fictional Chumbak Colony, the series follows five neighbouring families whose personal lives are so closely connected that privacy appears almost impossible.
The trailer presents a community in which neighbours behave like relatives, friends become advisers and every disagreement quickly becomes a colony-wide discussion. Ten friends and five households form the heart of the story, creating a colourful world filled with affection, gossip, marital tensions and comic misunderstandings.
Although some residents are successful professionals, including a model, a celebrity and a cardiac surgeon, their careers receive little attention once trouble begins inside the colony. Everyday concerns soon grow into major community events as everyone offers opinions, assistance and unsolicited advice.
The cheerful setting and familiar relationships give Chumbak the flavour of a classic Indian neighbourhood comedy. Its characters share meals, secrets and celebrations, but they also interfere in decisions that should remain private. That combination of warmth and intrusion drives much of the trailer’s humour.
Chumbak Marriage Drama Triggers Colony-Wide Chaos
At the centre of the story are Rajni and Kuku Merchant, played by Neena Gupta and Deven Bhojani. Their frequent arguments provide several comic moments before the situation takes an unexpected turn. After one family reveals that a marriage may end in divorce, Rajni announces that she also plans to separate from Kuku.
Rajni’s declaration leaves the residents shocked, but she appears determined to begin a new chapter and live on her own terms. Her decision immediately becomes a collective concern, with neighbours treating the couple’s private conflict as a problem for the entire colony to solve.
Sumeet Raghavan and Sandeepa Dhar portray Dharmendra and Kiran Kejriwal, another couple with an unusual relationship. Arjun Bijlani and Helly Shah appear as Mickey and Twinkle Oberoi, while Sumeet Vyas and Manasi Parekh play Aditya and Priyanka Khanna.
The Taraporewala family includes characters played by Delnaaz Irani, Anant V Joshi and Amyra Dastur. Atul Kumar is also part of the ensemble. Together, the cast creates a bustling social circle in which one person’s problem can quickly attract the attention of every household.
Chumbak Cast Reunites Popular Comedy Talent
Chumbak comes from Hats Off Productions, the banner known for television comedies such as Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi. The association raises expectations for sharp dialogue, eccentric characters and humour drawn from ordinary family situations.
Aatish Kapadia has written and directed the Netflix series. He also serves as a producer alongside Jamnadas “JD” Majethia. The creative team appears to be revisiting the charm of close-knit residential colonies while placing modern relationships, independence and changing family expectations at the centre of the narrative.
The trailer suggests that the series will balance emotional moments with situational comedy. Rajni’s desire for personal freedom may provide the central conflict, while the reactions of her husband, relatives and neighbours are likely to create both laughter and reflection.
Chumbak Netflix Release Date and Streaming Details
Chumbak will premiere exclusively on Netflix on September 10, 2026. With its experienced ensemble cast and a story rooted in familiar neighbourhood life, the series could appeal to viewers looking for a lighthearted family entertainer.
The show’s biggest attraction is its relatable setting, where people know one another’s routines and rarely hesitate to become involved in personal matters. By combining divorce discussions, friendships, generational differences and constant gossip, Chumbak promises a comedy in which community bonds create just as many complications as they resolve.
