Rashmika Vows Full Dedication to MS Subbulakshmi Biopic
The much-awaited biopic on Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi was officially launched at the Music Academy in Chennai, marking the beginning of an ambitious pan-India cinematic tribute to the legendary Carnatic vocalist. Rashmika Mandanna will portray the celebrated musician whose voice and cultural influence earned admiration across generations.
The launch ceremony became an emotional celebration of M.S. Subbulakshmi’s life, music and enduring legacy. Veteran actor Kamal Haasan inaugurated the film and gave the first clap for Rashmika’s opening scene, adding further significance to the occasion.
The project is being produced by Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vas. Jersey director Gowtam Tinnanuri will helm the biographical drama, while Anirudh Ravichander has been chosen to compose its music. The combination of prominent filmmakers and performers has already generated strong interest in the project.
Rashmika calls the role a blessing and responsibility
Speaking at the launch, Rashmika said that portraying M.S. Subbulakshmi was both a blessing and an enormous responsibility. She expressed gratitude and humility over receiving the opportunity to bring the story of one of India’s greatest cultural icons to the big screen.
The actress described her presence at the ceremony, held during M.S. Amma’s 110th birth-anniversary celebrations, as a spiritual experience. She said she believed the legendary singer’s blessings would guide the cast and crew throughout the filmmaking journey.
Rashmika also shared her pride in becoming part of a film based on such an extraordinary life. She promised to approach the character with sincerity and give her complete dedication to accurately capturing the grace, strength and musical legacy associated with M.S. Subbulakshmi.
Pan-India biopic aims to connect generations
The makers are positioning the film as a major pan-India production that will introduce M.S. Subbulakshmi’s inspirational journey to younger audiences while honouring her contribution to Indian classical music.
Rashmika said she hoped viewers across generations would connect with her performance and embrace the film with love and respect. With Gowtam Tinnanuri directing and Anirudh Ravichander handling the music, expectations are high for a moving cinematic portrayal of the Bharat Ratna recipient’s remarkable life and achievements.
