Bengaluru Cybercrime Arrests Two for Sharing Minor Abuse Videos Online

Bengaluru cybercrime authorities have arrested two men accused of sexually exploiting minor girls, recording the abuse on mobile devices, and uploading the videos online. This case is notable because it targets the creators of the content, not just those in possession. The incident highlights growing concerns about online child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and digital exploitation.

The accused, Kiran Kumar (29) and Aditya M K (20), were apprehended on May 12 after a tip-off to the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. Police seized three mobile phones used in recording and sharing the videos. A case has been registered at Kaggalipura Police Station under Sections 57 and 67(B) of the IT Act, alongside provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act addressing aggravated sexual assault and digital distribution of abusive material.

Investigation and Public Advisory

Police confirmed that statements from the minor victims have been recorded, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether others were involved in distributing or profiting from the videos. Cyber units are tracing digital footprints and online activity to identify potential accomplices. Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious content involving minors via the NCRP portal or local cybercrime units.

Experts warn that online platforms can facilitate the rapid spread of abusive material, emphasizing the need for timely reporting and intervention. The Bengaluru Cybercrime Police say this action reflects a stronger focus on digital child protection and effective law enforcement against online sexual exploitation. Parents and guardians are advised to monitor minors’ online activity and educate them about safe internet usage.

This arrest underscores the critical role of law enforcement in tackling online child abuse and the importance of community vigilance to protect children in digital spaces. The case also demonstrates how cybercrime units are evolving to not just track content, but apprehend individuals responsible for creating and disseminating illegal material.
