Paramjeet Dhankar murder accused arrested in Faridabad

Faridabad parking dispute leads to fatal shooting

Former Tech Mahindra regional business head Paramjeet Dhankar, 42, was shot dead in Faridabad's Sector 21C on Friday night after a parking argument. Police named his neighbour, 44-year-old scrap dealer Mohan alias Monu Sharma, as the accused.

Police said Dhankar returned from the gym around 8 pm when they argued over parking. The confrontation escalated, and Sharma allegedly pulled out his licensed pistol and opened fire, killing Dhankar at the scene.

Investigators said approximately 14 to 15 rounds were fired, with three or four bullets striking Dhankar. Officers are examining what led to the shooting and the argument between the neighbours.

Both men lived in the same building at house number 641. Dhankar occupied the first floor with his wife, son and daughter, while Sharma lived on the third floor. Police said the households had experienced previous disagreements.

Ballabgarh arrest and previous neighbour disputes

Faridabad police arrested Sharma near DLF Chowk in Ballabgarh on Saturday, November 7, a day after the killing. Investigators are examining the parking dispute alongside earlier incidents involving the families to establish how events unfolded.

Police are investigating whether a previous disagreement involving a pet dog contributed to tensions between the neighbours. Police have not established that it caused the shooting, which they said followed an argument over vehicle parking.

Investigators said the families had clashed repeatedly before the incident. About five days earlier, Sharma had allegedly abused Dhankar's son. That exchange was among earlier confrontations being examined during the murder investigation.

Dhankar's family had approached police with a complaint over a previous dispute, according to investigators. The matter was subsequently settled, but the neighbours reportedly remained at odds. Police are reviewing that history as part of the case.

Paramjeet Dhankar's Singapore career and family visit

Dhankar, originally from Hisar in Haryana, was employed in Singapore and had returned to Faridabad only two days before his death. He was visiting ahead of his nephew's wedding, which was scheduled for November 24.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Dhankar previously served as regional business head for Tech Mahindra's Asia-Pacific operations. At the time of his death, he was working as senior vice-president at FPT Software Company Limited, according to the report.

His return to India was intended for a family occasion rather than a work assignment. The fatal confrontation took place soon after he arrived, leaving the family facing a loss ahead of the planned wedding celebration.

Police have reported Sharma's arrest, while the allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings. Investigators continue examining the shooting and the history of disputes between the neighbours. Further findings have not yet been detailed.
