Bihar CM Announces Rs 10 Lakh Reward for 14-Year-Old IPL Star Vaibhav Suryavanshi After Historic Century

In recognition of an extraordinary achievement on the cricket field, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for 14-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi’s breathtaking innings against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday has left a lasting impression in the history of the T20 format, and his performance has quickly captured national attention.

Hailing from Bihar, Vaibhav Suryavanshi showcased immense composure, power, and technique as he dismantled a seasoned Gujarat Titans bowling attack. Despite their 694 collective international caps, the GT bowlers had no answer to Suryavanshi’s relentless assault. At just 14 years and 32 days old, Suryavanshi became the youngest player ever to score a century in T20 cricket and achieved the second-fastest IPL century after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball record knock in 2013.

His spectacular innings was eventually ended by a searing yorker from Prasidh Krishna, but by then, Suryavanshi had etched his name into the record books with a blistering 101 off 38 balls. His performance not only led Rajasthan Royals to a commanding 8-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans but also captured the imagination of cricket fans and experts across the country. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), congratulated Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his "impeccable performance" and acknowledged the pride he has brought to the state. Kumar recalled meeting Suryavanshi and his father in 2024, expressing back then his wishes for the young cricketer’s bright future.

"Congratulations and best wishes to Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar, who became the youngest player (14 years) to score a century in the history of IPL. He has become a new hope for Indian cricket as a result of his hard work and talent. Everyone is proud of him. After his brilliant performance in IPL, I congratulated him over the phone. Vaibhav Suryavanshi will also be given a prize money of Rs 10 lakh by the state government. I wish that Vaibhav creates new records for the Indian team in the future and brings glory to the country," Nitish Kumar wrote. The Chief Minister’s gesture underscores the significance of Suryavanshi’s achievement not only in the realm of sports but also as a symbol of aspiration and excellence for young talents across Bihar and India.

The adulation for Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s historic innings did not stop with Nitish Kumar. Union Minister Chirag Paswan also hailed the young sensation’s achievement, expressing his admiration during an interaction with reporters. "On behalf of the party, I wish him all the best. He is a young talent and has made such a beautiful start at such a young age. His future is very bright," Paswan said, echoing the sentiment of millions who witnessed Suryavanshi’s fearless display on the field.

The cricket fraternity has been abuzz with praise for the 14-year-old, with many experts predicting a long and illustrious career ahead for him. Suryavanshi’s early success has sparked comparisons with some of the greatest batting talents of the modern era, but it is his humble beginnings, hard work, and grounded nature that have captured hearts. Rising from the fields of Bihar to the grand stages of the IPL, Suryavanshi’s journey is a testament to the power of dedication, family support, and raw talent. His historic century and recognition from political leaders have not only set a benchmark for future youngsters but have also added a new chapter to the inspiring stories emerging from India’s heartland.

As Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to carve his path in cricket, his recent performance and the accolades he is receiving will serve as both motivation and a reminder that dreams, when combined with effort and sacrifice, can indeed come true. With the backing of his family, fans, and now the Bihar government, all eyes are on what this young wonder will achieve next on the world cricket stage.
