Donald Trump Says Israel-Iran Peace Deal Coming Soon Amid Conflict

Amid the deadly escalation between Israel and Iran, US President Donald Trump has claimed that peace between the two adversaries will be achieved "soon". Speaking on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump linked the ongoing conflict to his earlier diplomatic efforts, citing the India-Pakistan ceasefire and the Serbia-Kosovo agreement as successful examples of his peacemaking approach.

Trump made the bold claim just days after Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a sweeping military campaign targeting Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure. In response, Iran fired a massive wave of ballistic missiles at Israeli cities, killing dozens. The conflict has already claimed over 100 lives across both countries, with civilian casualties in Tehran and the Galilee region.

Reaffirming his self-claimed legacy as a dealmaker, Trump said, “Just like I got India and Pakistan to stop fighting by using US trade leverage and clear talks, Israel and Iran should, and will, make a deal.” He added that "many calls and meetings" are already underway to bring about this peace, though he offered no specifics about who is involved or how negotiations would proceed.

The situation on the ground, however, remains dire. Israeli strikes have hit more than 150 locations inside Iran, including critical nuclear sites and gas facilities, killing key military and scientific personnel. In retaliation, Iran has launched four waves of missile and drone attacks, with some reaching deep into Israeli territory.

Trump also mentioned other flashpoints during his first term Egypt and Ethiopia’s Nile dam dispute, and Serbia-Kosovo tensions as proof of his diplomacy-first policy, though critics have challenged the long-term effectiveness of those interventions.

Meanwhile, India called for “dialogue and diplomacy” during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, choosing not to sign a China-led statement condemning Israeli strikes. This aligns with New Delhi’s consistent stance of maintaining strategic neutrality while advocating regional stability. As global leaders watch anxiously, Trump’s prediction of peace between Israel and Iran stands in sharp contrast to the worsening military exchange that shows little sign of slowing. Whether his confidence is grounded in fact or campaign rhetoric remains to be seen.
