Trump's Oil and Gas Stocks Reach Up to $81.6 Million: Report

President Donald Trump's oil and gas investments are now estimated to be worth between $22.5 million and $81.6 million, according to an October 26 report by Democrats on the Congressional Joint Economic Committee. The findings have renewed debate over presidential financial interests as Americans face higher gasoline prices during the Iran war.

Trump Oil and Gas Holdings Increase

The Democratic minority estimated Trump's energy portfolio at between $12.6 million and $45.8 million at the end of 2025.

Stocks held during that period increased in value by an average of 43%, according to the committee's analysis using LSEG market data.

The report estimates that Trump's oil and gas wealth increased by as much as $35.8 million during 2026, including gains on existing holdings and additional stock purchases.

Chevron and ExxonMobil were among his largest investments in the sector.

Trump Energy Stock Purchases During Iran War

The report found that Trump's investment accounts purchased between $4.7 million and $17.5 million in oil and gas shares from March through August 2026.

During the same period, the accounts sold an estimated $2 million to $5.4 million in energy stocks.

The analysis relied on financial disclosures submitted to the Office of Government Ethics. Federal reporting rules require transactions to be disclosed within dollar ranges, meaning exact investment values remain unavailable.

Rising US Gasoline Prices and Oil Profits

The growth in Trump's energy holdings coincided with rising oil prices as the conflict with Iran disrupted global energy markets.

The committee's Democratic members estimated that American households had collectively spent an additional $101 billion on gasoline since the war began.

Speaking at a rally in Georgia, Trump highlighted strong earnings across the American oil and gas industry. He also predicted that fuel prices would fall after the conflict ended.

White House Response to Trump Investments

White House spokesman Davis Ingle rejected suggestions that Trump personally controls his energy investments.

Ingle said independent financial institutions manage the president's stock and bond portfolio through discretionary accounts.

According to the White House, neither Trump nor his family directs investment decisions or determines when securities are bought and sold.

The administration maintains that the portfolio follows established market indexes and does not create conflicts of interest.

Trump Oil Investments Conflict of Interest Concerns

Democrats argue that presidential ownership of individual energy stocks raises questions because government decisions can influence company profits and market prices.

However, the reported increase does not establish that Trump personally ordered the transactions or violated financial laws.

The committee's findings highlight the importance of disclosure, independent investment management and public scrutiny of financial interests held by senior officials.

Further financial filings may provide a clearer picture of Trump's investment activity during September and October.
