Iran Criticizes US Threats to Infrastructure
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday,June 10,2026 denounced threats from U.S. President Donald Trump to target Iranian bridges, power plants, and other critical infrastructure, describing such comments as a sign of weakness rather than strength. In a post on X, Pezeshkian emphasized that critical infrastructure is essential for ordinary citizens and should not be targeted during conflict.
Trump’s Threats and US Military Statements
The remarks came after Trump vowed further military action following U.S. strikes in response to the downing of an American Apache helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking at the White House, Trump stated, “We hit them hard yesterday, and we're going to hit them again hard today.” U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also indicated that upcoming strikes would be “strong” and “clear,” suggesting potential continuation into a second night.
Iran’s Response and Domestic Resilience
Responding to the threats, Pezeshkian asserted that Iran would rely on domestic expertise, national unity, and solidarity to withstand external pressure. Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s parliamentary national security commission, echoed this position, warning that American casualties are already higher than officially reported and could rise further.
Diplomatic Efforts Continue
Despite the escalation of threats, diplomatic channels remain active. Officials from Qatar, alongside Pakistan, traveled to Tehran on Wednesday to meet Iranian authorities, seeking to narrow differences and mediate tensions. These efforts highlight ongoing attempts to manage regional security while both nations maintain military postures and rhetoric.
The exchange underscores heightened U.S.-Iran tensions and the importance of critical infrastructure in the strategic calculus, as both sides continue to assert power while diplomatic measures proceed behind the scenes.
