7 Jaish Terrorists Killed in Infiltration Bid at Jammu's Samba Border
In a significant counter-terror operation, seven suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) while attempting to infiltrate India through the Samba sector in Jammu and Kashmir along the International Border, sources confirmed early Friday. The failed infiltration bid occurred as tensions between India and Pakistan escalated dangerously following Operation Sindoor and Pakistan’s retaliatory missile and drone attacks.

According to BSF officials, the incident took place around 11:00 PM on May 8, 2025, when troops observed suspicious movement near the Dhandhar border post in Samba. Acting swiftly, BSF units engaged the group, successfully neutralizing all seven terrorists before they could breach the Indian side of the border.

"At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K," the force confirmed in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter). Visual evidence from the encounter showed BSF personnel inflicting heavy damage on the Pakistani post at Dhandhar, believed to have facilitated the infiltration attempt. The footage displayed a "before and after" sequence, clearly highlighting the destruction caused during the engagement.

This infiltration attempt is being viewed as part of a larger strategy by Pakistan-based terror groups to exploit rising military tensions and attempt disruptive cross-border incursions. The incident unfolded on the same night that India successfully repulsed a series of missile and drone attacks by Pakistan targeting military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur.
The attempted attacks came in retaliation for India’s Operation Sindoor, a surgical military response conducted on May 7, which targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Indian intelligence reports confirmed that the operation killed approximately 100 terrorists and destroyed key terror infrastructure. Operation Sindoor was launched following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, a brutal massacre that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including tourists, during a religious gathering. The attack was attributed to Pakistan-backed terror outfits, primarily Jaish-e-Mohammed, prompting India's strong counteroffensive.

The infiltration bid at Samba is now being linked to possible retaliatory efforts by JeM operatives to either disrupt Indian border security or launch further attacks within Indian territory. However, BSF's proactive surveillance and response averted any such threat. The Indian armed forces have been on maximum alert since the success of Operation Sindoor. With two waves of Pakistani missiles and drone attacks being thwarted thanks to systems like the Akash missile defence network, C-UAS drone jammers, and Israeli HARPY drones India’s military readiness has drawn global attention. This latest infiltration attempt underscores the complex multi-front threats India faces not only from state-sponsored actions like missile launches but also from non-state actors operating under state protection, attempting covert operations through vulnerable terrain.

Security agencies are continuing combing operations in and around Samba and other sensitive border zones, anticipating more such attempts in the days to come. A full investigation is underway to trace the identity and objectives of the infiltrators, although early intelligence suggests they were trained JeM operatives. Meanwhile, diplomatic channels remain tense, and the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued fresh advisories for border state administrations, urging vigilance in civilian zones and enhancing intelligence cooperation across agencies. This operation sends a strong message: India will defend its sovereignty on every front militarily, diplomatically, and through tight counterterror surveillance.
