Due to recent and forecasted rainfall in the region, event officials and law enforcement will be closely monitoring weather conditions leading up to and during the concert. Attendees are advised to stay alert for any updates, as severe weather could impact the event schedule. Public announcements will be made in the event of delays or cancellations for safety reasons.
Concertgoers are permitted to bring a variety of personal items to make their experience more comfortable. These include coolers, backpacks, food items, sealed containers, and chairs designed to sit low to the ground. Guests are also encouraged to bring their own water to stay hydrated, especially given the potential for humid weather conditions.
However, for security purposes, a comprehensive list of prohibited items has been issued. Attendees are not allowed to bring weapons, alcohol, glass bottles, non-service animals, bicycles, scooters, fireworks, knives, pepper spray, or any items deemed hazardous or disruptive. Drones and other remote-controlled or unmanned devices are strictly banned. Umbrellas must be 36 inches in diameter or smaller. Additionally, sealed packages, large duffle bags, and suitcases are not permitted. Security personnel reserve the right to deny entry to anyone carrying items they determine to be a threat to public safety.
Due to the scale of the concert and its central location, road closures will be in effect starting Thursday at 8 p.m. and will continue through Monday at 4 a.m. The impacted areas include:
- First Street from Constitution Avenue NW to Independence Avenue SW
- Pennsylvania Avenue from 3rd Street NW to First Street NW
- Maryland Avenue from 3rd Street SW to First Street SW
In addition, tour buses will be redirected to Union Station to reduce congestion near the event site and ensure easier pedestrian access.
Special accommodations will be made for those requiring accessible parking. On Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., ADA parking will be available along both sides of Louisiana Avenue between Constitution Avenue NW and First Street NW, as well as on both sides of First Street between Constitution Avenue NW and Louisiana Avenue NW.
With large crowds expected, attendees are urged to plan ahead and use public transportation or ride-share services where possible. Early arrival is recommended to allow time for security screenings and to secure a good viewing location. Concert organizers emphasize that cooperation with the security guidelines will help ensure a smooth and respectful event for everyone in attendance.
This year’s concert promises to be a moving tribute filled with music and messages honoring military heroes and their families. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of Memorial Day and the need to recognize the sacrifices made in service to the country.
