At least six people were killed after an Israeli airstrike destroyed a residential building in the town of Jibchit in southern Lebanon early Saturday, according to official reports. Among the victims were four members of the same family, highlighting the growing civilian toll as tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border continue to intensify. The attack was part of a series of overnight Israeli military operations targeting areas in southern Lebanon, where cross-border hostilities have increased amid the broader Middle East conflict.

 

Authorities in Lebanon said earlier airstrikes in the town of Nabi Chit resulted in at least 16 deaths and left around 35 people injured. Emergency teams worked through the night to rescue survivors and clear debris from damaged buildings as residents described scenes of destruction across affected neighbourhoods. The strikes mark one of the latest escalations in violence in the region, where repeated exchanges of fire have raised fears of a wider confrontation.

 

Meanwhile, concerns about regional security spread beyond Lebanon after Qatar briefly raised its national security threat level. The country’s Interior Ministry issued mobile alerts advising residents to remain indoors while authorities monitored what officials described as a potential drone-related security risk. The alert triggered anxiety across the Gulf nation as citizens awaited further updates.

 

Shortly afterward, authorities released a follow-up notification confirming that the threat had been neutralised. Officials stated that the situation had returned to normal and reassured the public that security conditions were stable. While the incident ended quickly, the temporary alert underscored the heightened state of vigilance across the region as Middle East tensions continue to affect multiple countries.
