Florida Family Sues Campbell’s, Walmart Over SpaghettiOs Claim

A Florida family has filed a federal lawsuit against Campbell’s Company and Walmart Inc., alleging that a can of SpaghettiOs contained worm-like organisms and caused serious illness after it was served at home.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, says Mary Hubbard purchased the canned pasta from a Walmart Supercenter in Okeechobee, Florida, and served it to her family on June 6, 2024.

SpaghettiOs Contamination Lawsuit Filed in Florida

According to the filing, Hubbard alleges she saw organisms moving inside the food during the meal. The lawsuit also claims she recorded video footage showing worm-like organisms in the canned pasta, though the filing says the video was not submitted as evidence with the complaint.

The complaint alleges that Hubbard and her daughter later developed parasitic infections after eating the product. Hubbard reported gastrointestinal illness, sepsis, liver injury, anemia, and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the court filing.

Her daughter, identified in the lawsuit as P.L., allegedly experienced nausea, vomiting, and a parasitic infection.

Campbell’s and Walmart Named as Defendants

The lawsuit names both Campbell’s and Walmart as defendants and seeks at least $75,000 in damages. The complaint alleges negligence and violations of federal food safety standards.

The plaintiffs are also requesting a jury trial.

Neither Campbell’s nor Walmart has publicly addressed the specific allegations in the filing. The claims remain allegations unless proven in court.

The case is likely to draw attention because it involves a widely sold canned food product, a major retailer, and health-related claims tied to alleged food contamination.
