PM Narendra Modi Visits Adampur Air Base, Meets Brave Jawans

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Punjab’s strategically important Adampur Air Base early this morning, marking a significant moment amid the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. The visit follows Pakistan’s overnight airstrikes on May 9-10, during which four key Indian Air Force (IAF) stations including Adampur, Pathankot, Udhampur, and Bhuj were reportedly targeted as part of a retaliatory strike in response to India’s Operation Sindoor.

PM Modi was briefed by IAF officials on the security situation and the readiness of the base, which houses India’s frontline MiG-29 fighter jets. Air Chief Marshal A P Singh accompanied the Prime Minister during the visit. Modi also interacted with jawans, fighter pilots, and the technical teams responsible for recent air operations.

Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister described the visit as a "very special experience." He shared images with air warriors and wrote: “Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”

The visit comes just days after India’s Operation Sindoor, a targeted offensive that included airstrikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Following these strikes, Pakistan launched a counterattack using drones, missiles, and heavy shelling. Although Pakistan claimed to have inflicted damage on several IAF stations, Indian authorities reported that the damage at Adampur and other locations was limited, with no significant loss of operational capability.

PM Modi left for Adampur from Delhi’s Palam Air Base at 7 a.m. and spent nearly an hour at the air base. His interaction with the jawans was marked by expressions of gratitude and solidarity, as he acknowledged their sacrifices and commitment to national security. The Adampur Air Base, one of the oldest and most critical IAF stations in northern India, is equipped with MiG-29 squadrons and plays a key role in air defense along the western border. The Prime Minister’s visit is being viewed not only as a morale booster for the forces but also as a clear signal of India's resolve and preparedness.

The move aligns with PM Modi’s recent address to the nation, where he emphasized India’s new counter-terrorism doctrine. He stated that any act of terror would be treated as an act of war, and responses would be swift, targeted, and uncompromising. With this visit, the government reaffirms its strong support for the armed forces and sends a message of unity and strength at a time of heightened military alertness. The visit also comes amid growing international attention on South Asia's volatile security environment, and India's insistence on protecting its national interests with decisive action. As the situation remains tense but under control, the Prime Minister’s personal engagement with the forces at ground zero reinforces the central government's commitment to the defense of the nation and the valiant men and women in uniform.
