A foreign divorce is not automatically valid in India just because a court in another country grants it. The Supreme Court has made it clear that when a marriage is governed by Indian matrimonial law, especially the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, any foreign divorce decree must satisfy India law, Section 13 CPC, jurisdiction rules, natural justice, and the legal principles already settled by the court. This means a US divorce may be valid in the US, but it may still fail in India if it does not ma

Isha Ambani made a statement at the 2026 Met Gala, showcasing Indian fashion and art on the biggest stage in the fashion world. The prestigious Met Gala took place on May 1, 2026, and Isha’s remarkable ensemble demonstrated the perfect fusion of Indian heritage with modern design, bringing attention to the vibrancy of India’s traditional arts. Isha stunned the fashion world in a custom-made gold saree by acclaimed designer Gaurav Gupta, adorned with hand-painted Pichwai-inspired motifs. This intricate design was woven with pure gold threads by artisans from Swadesh, an artisan-only retail brand by Reliance Retail, highlighting India's craftsmanship and rich textile tradition. The saree also featured a sculptural cape, a signature element by Gaurav Gupta, which brought a contemporary twist to the traditional Indian attire, showcasing a modern take on an age-old garment. The saree was designed to celebrate Indian craftsmanship and luxury, elevating Isha’s Met Gala look to iconic status. The blouse paired with the saree was another work of art, embedded with over 1800 carats of diamonds, as well as emeralds, polki, and kundan, creating a living surface of luxury and heritage. The back of the blouse was decorated with a sarpech, an exquisite jewel once part of the Nizam’s royal collection, making it a piece of history in itself. Isha mentioned in an exclusive interview with Vogue that the blouse incorporated several pieces of her mother’s jewelry, making it not only a luxurious garment but a personal heirloom. In addition to her gold saree, Isha also wore a second striking look that showcased her commitment to promoting Indian heritage. At a pre-Met Gala event in New York City on May 1, Isha wore an exquisite bandage dress made using 26 different kinds of borders, each representing a distinct region and craft of India. This dress served as a tribute to the diverse craftsmanship found across the country, from intricate weaving techniques to vibrant regional patterns, creating a vivid map of India on her attire. The dress combined tradition and modernity, allowing Isha to represent India’s rich cultural diversity with elegance and style. Art and Heritage on the Red Carpet Isha’s mango sculpture carried in a crochet bag was another integral part of her Met Gala look. Created by Subodh Gupta, the mango sculpture was not just an accessory but a piece of art that perfectly aligned with the Met Gala 2026 theme, “Fashion is Art.” Gupta, renowned for transforming everyday objects into extraordinary art, used the mango to symbolize India’s cultural and artistic heritage. The mango sculpture highlighted Isha’s effort to elevate Indian art in global spaces, turning the Met Gala into a platform for showcasing cultural richness. Isha also wore a gajra-inspired sculpture in her hair, crafted by Brooklyn-based artist Sourabh Gupta. This accessory was an artistic reinterpretation of the traditional mogra gajra, a garland of jasmine flowers worn by Indian women. The sculpture, made from paper, copper, and brass, added an artistic twist to the classic accessory, symbolizing Isha’s blend of cultural reverence and modern aesthetics. A Continuing Legacy of Indian Designers Isha Ambani has been a consistent supporter of Indian designers at the Met Gala, wearing creations that celebrate Indian craftsmanship. In 2024, she wore a floral gown by Rahul Mishra, and in 2025, she sported an androgynous ensemble by Anamika Khanna. This year, she continued her tradition by choosing a regal Gaurav Gupta X Swadesh saree, a testament to her commitment to championing Indian talent on the world stage. Through her attire, Isha Ambani once again set the tone for India’s cultural presence at the Met Gala. Her saree, diamonds, mango sculpture, and gajra-inspired hair accessory reflected her deep connection to India’s rich heritage and her role in promoting the country’s craftsmanship and art globally. Isha’s appearance at Met Gala 2026 was a celebration of the fusion between Indian tradition and modern fashion, positioning her as a true global ambassador for Indian artistry and culture.

Melissa Gilbert publicly reflected on the lasting impact of child exploitation in the entertainment industry weeks before her husband, actor and director Timothy Busfield, became the subject of an arrest warrant linked to allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors in New Mexico. According to an arrest warrant issued by the Albuquerque Police Department on January 9, authorities allege that Busfield, 68, engaged in unlawful sexual contact with two 11-year-old twin boys. The identities of the minors have not been released. One of the children reportedly told investigators that the alleged conduct began when he was seven years old. The warrant outlines two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse. The warrant was issued following a lengthy investigation that began in November 2024, after a physician at the University of New Mexico Hospital contacted law enforcement regarding possible sexual abuse. Investigators were informed that the boys were child actors who had met Busfield while working on the television series The Cleaning Lady, where he served as a director during its production run from 2022 through 2025. The children’s parents told police that medical professionals raised concerns that the boys may have been groomed. At the time, officials determined the case did not meet the criteria for further action. The matter resurfaced in October 2025, when the children’s mother filed a formal police report and contacted Child Protective Services, stating that both boys disclosed abuse allegedly occurring between November 2022 and spring 2024. She was later informed that without evidence of physical injury, additional steps could not be taken at that stage. During interviews with investigators, Busfield reportedly denied the allegations and suggested the parents were motivated by frustration after their children were replaced by another actor. Shortly thereafter, he was notified by a studio that an internal inquiry had been initiated following a complaint. The warrant also notes that Busfield had been accused of sexual assault in a separate matter in 1994, though no charges were filed at that time. Weeks before the warrant became public, Gilbert, 61, shared a personal message on social media reflecting on her own experiences as a minor working in television. In the post, she described revisiting images from her teenage years and confronting the reality that she had been expected to portray romantic scenes with significantly older co-stars. Writing through a modern lens, Gilbert emphasized that she was a child at the time and expressed gratitude that trusted adults were present to protect her, while acknowledging that many young performers are not afforded similar safeguards. Her comments were part of a broader response to public discourse surrounding the minimization of child sexual exploitation. Gilbert cautioned against language that downplays abuse and urged greater care when discussing crimes involving minors. Gilbert and Busfield have been married since 2013 and have spoken publicly about their long relationship, which began after reconnecting in 2012. In April of last year, Gilbert marked their wedding anniversary with a social media tribute highlighting their family life and creative partnership. Representatives for both Gilbert and Busfield have not issued public statements regarding the arrest warrant. The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrest had been made as of the warrant’s issuance. Authorities have emphasized that the allegations are claims and that Busfield is entitled to due process as the legal proceedings move forward. Law enforcement officials continue to encourage anyone with information related to child abuse to report concerns to appropriate authorities, noting that early reporting can be critical in protecting vulnerable individuals.
