Texas flood victims to receive $1M aid from restaurant chain founder
In response to the devastating flooding that struck central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend, the founder of a well-known restaurant chain has pledged $1 million to support communities affected by the disaster. The donation will go toward providing immediate aid and long-term recovery resources to individuals and families impacted by the widespread flooding.

The funds will help deliver essential services such as emergency shelter, food, relief supplies, financial assistance, mental health support, and reunification services for families separated by the crisis. Emergency shelters have already been activated in the hardest-hit areas, offering a safe space for displaced residents and serving as points for charging electronic devices and receiving aid.

The donor, who has led the restaurant company since its founding in the mid-1990s, expressed deep sadness over the loss of life and destruction caused by the storm. The flooding has been linked to at least 109 deaths, with entire communities suffering severe damage from rising waters. In a statement, he shared his condolences with those affected, recognizing the emotional and physical toll the disaster has taken on countless Texans.

“Our hearts break as we witness the devastating impact of flooding in Kerrville and surrounding communities,” he said. “We’re deeply saddened by the lives impacted and the loved ones lost, and our prayers go out to everyone affected. We are also incredibly grateful to the first responders and aid workers who have stepped up to provide critical support during this time.”

The donation is not limited to immediate relief, but is also intended to help communities in the weeks and months ahead. The restaurant chain has had a strong presence in Texas for over 20 years, with more than 200 locations across the state, and considers Texas a key part of its identity. Company representatives stated that this contribution represents an ongoing commitment to rebuilding and restoring impacted neighborhoods.

“This is not just a donation,” they said, “but a promise to stand by our communities now and as they move through the long journey of recovery.”

Founded in the 1990s with a single location, the restaurant has grown rapidly over the past three decades and now operates more than 900 locations nationwide. Known for its streamlined menu and community-focused philosophy, the brand has continued to expand, with plans to open more than 100 new locations this year and nearly as many again in the following year.

The impact of the recent flooding has brought renewed attention to disaster preparedness and the importance of both public and private support during emergencies. As cleanup and rebuilding begin, contributions like this $1 million pledge are helping to bring critical resources to families in need and providing a foundation for long-term recovery efforts.

Those affected by the flooding can access emergency services at shelters and reunification centers operating in the region. Relief organizations continue to work with local officials and volunteers to distribute supplies, offer shelter, and provide emotional support during this period of uncertainty and loss.

As Texas continues to recover from one of the most devastating flooding events in recent memory, efforts from individuals and businesses alike are offering hope and tangible help to those who need it most.
