Chandrababu Naidu Secures $1 Billion Investment in Andhra Pradesh Ports After Davos Meeting

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, has once again proven his adeptness at securing investments for the state. Following his annual participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the results of his networking efforts are already becoming evident. One of the most notable outcomes of his 2025 Davos visit is the $1 billion investment secured from Maersk's subsidiary, APM Terminals, which will significantly boost the state’s maritime infrastructure.

Earlier this year, at the World Economic Forum, Chandrababu Naidu met with Vincent Clerc, the CEO of Maersk, the world's largest freight operation company. The primary goal of this high-level meeting was to invite investments into Andhra Pradesh's growing logistics sector, particularly leveraging the state’s expansive 1,000-km coastline. This meeting culminated in the announcement that APM Terminals would invest $1 billion in developing Andhra Pradesh’s ports, marking a pivotal moment in the state's economic development.

On August 25, 2025, APM Terminals officially confirmed its $1 billion commitment as part of a larger Rs 9,000 crore ($1.2 billion) investment plan for the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board. This marks a significant milestone for the state, positioning it as a key player in the logistics and maritime sector. The investment will be utilized to enhance port infrastructure, improve logistics capabilities, and streamline trade operations, further boosting the state’s economic growth.

The original meeting between Chandrababu Naidu and Vincent Clerc in Davos was instrumental in laying the groundwork for this investment. The collaboration between Andhra Pradesh and Maersk is set to transform the state’s logistics and maritime landscape, attracting further global investment and opening up new avenues for economic growth.

This partnership is expected to generate thousands of jobs, stimulate trade, and solidify Andhra Pradesh’s position as a logistics hub in India. The state’s 1,000-km coastline, combined with Maersk’s expertise, is poised to create a robust infrastructure capable of supporting India’s growing trade demands. With the Davos discussions now yielding tangible results, Andhra Pradesh’s economic future looks promising, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s proactive leadership is set to drive further development in the state’s maritime sector.
