At a recent event attended by Supreme Hero Sai Durga Tej, Minister Seethakka, Young Indians Co-Chairman Bhavin Pandya, National Chairman Tarang Khurana, CII Telangana Chairman Siva Prasad Reddy, and Jyotsna Singh, the actor gave an emotional and impactful speech on child safety and the challenges posed by social media.
Speaking at the gathering, Sai Durga Tej expressed his deep concern over the rising trend of abusive comments directed at children online. He noted that people not only post inappropriate remarks but also encourage such behavior with likes and laughter. “Is this the kind of society we want to build? How can anyone make such disgusting remarks about children?” he questioned, adding that hiding behind dark comedy is no excuse for spreading hate.
The actor recalled his long-standing involvement in child education. In 2015, he worked with Think Peace to support schools in Araku and has since adopted children in Telangana to provide for their education and basic needs. He emphasized that parents today spend less time with their children, stressing the importance of open communication at home. “I shared my first love story with my mother in second grade. She gave me the freedom to talk about anything. That’s the kind of bond every parent must have with their child,” he said.
Sai Durga Tej highlighted the need for accountability on social media, suggesting that children’s accounts be linked to their parents’ phone numbers or Aadhaar cards to ensure better monitoring. He encouraged families to spend at least one day a week together without distractions and to teach children about responsibility, good touch and bad touch, and the importance of living in the real world rather than being consumed by virtual spaces.
He further shared how his personal choices also reflect this philosophy. After his film “Winner,” he consciously avoided songs that promoted teasing, stating that true love should be expressed through praise and respect. Addressing rumors about his marriage, the actor smilingly said, “Please don’t spread rumors. When the time comes, I will announce it myself.” Sai Durga Tej’s passionate words struck a chord with the audience, reinforcing the urgent need for stronger parental involvement and social awareness to ensure a safer environment for children, both offline and online.
