TDP’s Mahanadu 2025 in Kadapa: Lokesh’s Bold Move in Jagan’s Stronghold

In a bold political statement, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is organizing its largest-ever Mahanadu event in Kadapa, a region historically known as the political fortress of the YS family. Scheduled from May 27 to 29, this year's Mahanadu is not just a party gathering it's a powerful message of resurgence in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s home turf.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh arrived in Kadapa ahead of the event, overseeing final arrangements for what is shaping up to be one of the most significant political congregations in Andhra Pradesh’s recent memory. With over five lakh attendees expected, the venue is designed to withstand adverse weather, featuring air coolers, massive LED screens, and a 450-capacity stage. But beyond the grandeur lies a calculated political move one that insiders credit to Nara Lokesh.

Kadapa has traditionally been the bastion of the YSR Congress Party, with opposition forces, including TDP, struggling to make inroads. However, that dynamic began to shift in 2024–25. Lokesh, who extensively toured Rayalaseema during his Padayatra, envisioned a new political reality in the region. He believed that to truly challenge YSRCP, TDP would need to penetrate Kadapa not just with promises, but with presence and purpose.

Under his guidance, TDP made key inroads, sweeping YSRCP out of the segment in recent polls a landmark achievement. As part of this turnaround, Chandrababu Naidu’s administration has focused on strategic development projects, including water supply, energy hubs, and automotive corridors for Rayalaseema. These initiatives have already begun transforming public perception and building trust among the local population.

Choosing Kadapa for the TDP’s flagship annual event, Mahanadu, wasn’t accidental it was a strategic assertion of political dominance. Hosting the event in what was once considered “Jagan’s Adda” is both symbolic and tactical. It showcases the confidence of TDP’s leadership and cements their intent to deepen their political roots in regions that were once out of reach.

Sources close to the party’s think tank suggest that Lokesh was instrumental in convincing the leadership to bring Mahanadu to Kadapa. His on-ground experience, combined with data-driven strategies, convinced the party that Seema was ready for change and that change would begin in the very heart of the opposition.

The Mahanadu venue is expected to host an unprecedented number of party workers and supporters. Huge LED screens, climate-controlled setups, and expansive seating are in place to ensure smooth proceedings even under harsh weather conditions. The arrangements also reflect the importance TDP places on making every cadre feel welcomed and empowered. In recent times, no political event in Andhra Pradesh has been as logistically ambitious or symbolically potent. From being unable to contest effectively in Kadapa to now dominating the narrative, the evolution of TDP’s presence in this region is being hailed as a case study in political transformation.

For decades, Kadapa remained an impenetrable zone for the Telugu Desam Party. But in 2025, things have changed dramatically. Through strategic planning, bold decisions, and relentless grassroots engagement, TDP has turned a fortress into a battleground, and now into a showcase of its resurgence. Mahanadu 2025 in Kadapa is more than a political event it is a declaration of TDP’s return, strength, and ambition. And if this momentum continues, Rayalaseema may well become the launching pad for TDP’s future dominance in Andhra Pradesh politics.
