Mohammad Kaif praises Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after explosive IPL knock

A rising teenage star in India’s premier T20 league has drawn widespread attention after delivering a standout performance that helped Rajasthan Royals secure a commanding victory. The match took place in Guwahati, India, on Friday, April 10, 2026, where 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored a rapid 78 runs off just 26 balls to guide his team to a six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Following the performance, former India international Mohammad Kaif praised the young batter, comparing his approach to a video game due to the ease with which he scores runs. In a post shared on social media, Kaif noted that Sooryavanshi has consistently taken on top-tier bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, often hitting boundaries off their very first deliveries. Sooryavanshi’s innings included seven sixes and eight boundaries, dismantling the opposing bowling attack. He scored heavily against experienced pacers, including multiple boundaries off Hazlewood and a quick run burst against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Earlier in the tournament, he had also impressed with aggressive stroke play against Mumbai Indians, including two sixes off Bumrah.

Speaking after the match, Sooryavanshi emphasized his focus on playing the ball rather than the bowler, crediting his coaches and family for guiding him to stay grounded. Already known for becoming the youngest centurion in the league last season, the young cricketer continues to establish himself as one of the most exciting emerging talents in global T20 cricket.
