At least 13 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. The airstrikes targeted multiple areas, with the most significant fatalities reported in Haboush, located in the Nabatieh district, where two women and a child were among the eight killed. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had issued an evacuation order for residents in these areas, but the airstrikes still resulted in significant civilian casualties. In Zrarieh, located in the Sidon district, four people, including two women, were killed, while another person died in Ain Baal, situated in the Tyre district. Along with the fatalities, 32 others were injured during the attacks on Friday.

Despite an ongoing three-week ceasefire extension, fighting between Israel and Hezbollah continues to escalate. On Saturday, Hezbollah, a group backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli soldiers and military vehicles in Lebanon. In retaliation, the Israeli military reported the death of one of its soldiers during combat in southern Lebanon on Thursday, raising the number of Israeli military deaths to 17 since early March.

The tensions between Israel and Lebanon have been ongoing, with the initial 10-day ceasefire announced on April 16, following talks between Israeli and Lebanese diplomats in Washington. These talks, which marked the first high-level discussions between the two countries since 1993, were aimed at resolving hostilities. However, despite these diplomatic efforts, the violence has continued, further destabilizing the region.

The FIRs filed against Sandeep Pathak in Punjab after switching to the BJP are a stark reminder of the growing tensions in both domestic and international politics. The deaths in Lebanon underscore the need for international intervention and peacekeeping measures, as the situation in southern Lebanon remains dire, with casualties mounting daily. As more details emerge about the situation, the international community continues to call for immediate de-escalation and resolution of the ongoing crisis in the region.
