IIM Student Uses ChatGPT, Launches Exam Guide Study Smart

In a bold blend of AI and education, 27-year-old IIM Ahmedabad student Yugantar Gupta has drawn attention across India by crediting ChatGPT for helping him excel in an assignment. Now, taking his approach a step further, Gupta has released a detailed exam preparation guide titled Study Smart – The Ultimate Exam Guide, designed for students tackling India’s toughest competitive exams.

Gupta, who scored an impressive 99.58 percentile in CAT 2023, holds the rare combination of being a chartered accountant, company secretary, and now an MBA aspirant at one of India’s most prestigious institutions. His academic achievements are only part of the story. Gupta’s practical, efficiency-driven mindset is what sets him apart.

His recently launched book, Study Smart, is a 200-page manual split into 50 chapters. The guide covers preparation strategies for a wide spectrum of exams including JEE, NEET, CLAT, CUET, UPSC, CA, CS, and even board exams. It’s built not just on theory but on firsthand insights, as Gupta interacted with hundreds of students and professionals to understand what truly works and what doesn’t in the high-stakes world of Indian exams.

The book focuses on optimizing study routines, eliminating distractions, and creating efficient plans. It goes far beyond conventional tips, tackling elements like mental health, diet, rest, and even digital discipline. One chapter introduces the unique concept of an Accountability Partner someone who can monitor mobile usage and help students stay on track, particularly useful in the age of smartphone distractions.

Gupta also emphasizes a message rarely found in exam prep books: trust and resilience matter more than just marks. “Trust is the sole important thing today. You won’t even remember what you got in a couple of years,” he reflects. His philosophy urges students to focus on growth and consistency rather than short-term validation.

His success with ChatGPT highlights how students can integrate AI meaningfully in academic work, but he is quick to point out its limits. “AI is a support system, not a replacement for real experience and effort,” he shared in a recent LinkedIn post, adding that true learning comes from exploring beyond books, engaging with the world, and staying curious. With Study Smart, Gupta presents a progressive roadmap for students, balancing traditional discipline with modern tools. As India’s exam culture evolves, his guide offers a much-needed upgrade one that’s both human and high-tech.
