In a significant move, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the governing body of the famous Lord Venkateswara temple, has suspended Assistant Executive Officer (AEO) A. Rajasekhar Babu with immediate effect for allegedly participating in church prayers in his hometown of Puttur, located in the Tirupati district. The suspension stems from allegations that Babu attended church services regularly on Sundays, an act considered a violation of the strict code of conduct expected from employees of a Hindu religious organization.

The TTD’s decision is part of a wider effort to enforce its rules against employees engaging in non-Hindu religious activities. The board clarified that Babu’s actions, including allegedly promoting Christianity, went against the principles of the Hindu trust. The decision follows a broader crackdown by TTD, which had previously transferred several employees, including nurses, teachers, and technical officers, for engaging in similar activities.

TTD’s Chief Public Relations Officer confirmed that the temple administration had received detailed reports, including a viral video, showing Babu attending church services and engaging in prayer sessions. This incident has raised concerns regarding the accountability of temple employees and their adherence to the religious guidelines set by TTD.

The investigation, spearheaded by the TTD Vigilance Department, brought to light the seriousness of Babu’s alleged actions. The department's report, along with other evidence, led to the suspension and initiated departmental action against the official. As this matter continues to draw attention, the TTD is expected to strengthen its policies on employee conduct to ensure alignment with its religious values.
