Director Venky Kudumula Talks About Nithiin's Comedy Entertainer 'Robinhood' Interview

How did the idea of Robinhood come about?
Venky Kudumula: After Bheeshma, I initially planned a story for Chiranjeevi garu. Though he liked the concept, I felt I couldn’t meet his expectations. Later, I reworked the script and customized it for Nithiin.

What was it like working with Nithiin again after Bheeshma?
Venky Kudumula: It was a wonderful experience. We’ve had a great rapport since my time as an associate director for A Aa. This comfort level made our journey with Robinhood smooth and enjoyable.

What makes Nithiin’s character unique in Robinhood?
Venky Kudumula: Nithiin plays a manipulative character who relies on mental strength rather than physical strength. His character appears in various disguises during the first 20 minutes, creating fun and excitement before the story shifts into high gear.

What inspired David Warner’s cameo in the film?
Venky Kudumula: I wanted an international star for a special role. Being a cricket fan, I suggested David Warner, and surprisingly, our producer made it happen. Warner’s confident on-screen presence impressed us all.

What role does Rajendra Prasad play in Robinhood?
Venky Kudumula: Rajendra Prasad garu plays a crucial role as a security agency owner who unintentionally gets dragged into a chaotic world due to Nithiin’s manipulative character. His performance is both emotional and humorous.

Can you tell us about Sreeleela's role in the film?
Venky Kudumula: Sreeleela’s character is both intelligent and entertaining. Her witty performance adds a lot of humor and charm to the narrative.

How did GV Prakash Kumar contribute to the film’s music?
Venky Kudumula: GV Prakash’s songs are already a hit, and his background score adds an extra layer of thrill. The music aligns perfectly with the story's tone, and there's a surprise song that’s integrated beautifully into the plot.

What’s the significance behind the title Robinhood?
Venky Kudumula: Just like the legendary Robinhood, our protagonist fights for those in need. The title reflects this theme while also hinting at the film’s entertaining, action-packed nature.

How did you improve the film during the extended production period?
Venky Kudumula: The additional time allowed us to refine the music, visual effects, and post-production. As a result, Robinhood offers superior quality in every aspect.

What’s your dream project for the future?
Venky Kudumula: I’m passionate about fantasy-driven narratives, and I’m looking forward to exploring that genre soon. I also hope to work with Chiranjeevi garu in the future.

Can we expect Nithiin’s viral podcast concept to appear in the movie?
Venky Kudumula: No, that worked well as spontaneous content. Without proper context in the film, it wouldn’t deliver the same impact.

How does Robinhood balance action, comedy, and family entertainment?
Venky Kudumula: The film offers a perfect mix of fun, thrilling action sequences, and family emotions. With entertaining moments throughout, Robinhood will appeal to audiences of all age groups.

How did the team ensure Robinhood maintained its high production value?
Venky Kudumula: Mythri Movie Makers provided unwavering support, ensuring that quality was maintained without compromise. Their dedication allowed us to deliver a polished and entertaining film.

What’s your message to fans eagerly waiting for Robinhood?
Venky Kudumula: Expect a fun-filled entertainer packed with thrilling moments, comedy, and engaging performances. Robinhood is a perfect family watch, and I’m confident audiences will enjoy it.
