Priyanka Chopra Opens Up About Being Pushed Out of Bollywood in Exclusive Interview

Did you always plan to leave Bollywood and work in Hollywood?
No, I never wanted to leave Bollywood. I felt limited at that time and wanted more creative opportunities. I was pushed to explore work outside India, and that led me to America, where I found exciting roles that helped me grow as an actor.

What challenges did you face in Bollywood?
I faced many challenges, especially as someone without a film industry background. I didn’t have the same support system as star kids, and navigating the politics of the industry was difficult. I had to work hard to create my own path.

How did your journey in Hollywood begin?
My journey started in 2012 when I went to the United States for music. That opened doors to acting opportunities in television and films. Over time, I was able to establish myself and work on projects that allowed me to show my versatility.

How do you balance working in Bollywood and Hollywood now?
I enjoy working in both industries because they offer different experiences. I never wanted to choose between them. Now, I feel fortunate to be able to work internationally and also return to Indian cinema with exciting projects.

Tell us about your return to Indian cinema with Varanasi.
I am very excited to return to India with Varanasi. Working with SS Rajamouli is a special experience, and I’m proud to be part of such an ambitious project. It feels great to reconnect with Indian audiences.

What can audiences expect from your upcoming film The Bluff?
The Bluff is an action-adventure film where I play a pirate. It was physically demanding, and I performed many of my own stunts. Shooting in real locations added realism, and I believe audiences will enjoy the intensity and scale of the film.

How do you feel about your career today?
After more than a decade of working internationally, I feel grateful for the opportunities I’ve had. I’m now in a position where I can choose meaningful projects, and that is very fulfilling as an artist.
