Sanjay Dutt Interview: Remembers Nargis on Death Anniversary Calls Her His Life

Sanjay Dutt Interview: Remembers Nargis on Death Anniversary Calls Her His Life

What made Nargis the strongest influence in your life?
Sanjay Dutt says his mother Nargis ran the household with complete authority. Her strength wasn’t just emotional—it was discipline, structure, and control over the family environment.

Was she strict or loving as a mother?
Both. That’s the contradiction. She was strict in running the home but extremely soft when it came to her son. Sanjay admits she never denied him anything and often spoiled him.

Who played the disciplinarian role in your family?
That role belonged to Sunil Dutt. While Nargis pampered Sanjay, his father ensured balance with discipline and structure.

When did you realize her true legacy as an actress?
Not as a child. Sanjay openly admits he only saw her as “mother” growing up. The realization of her legendary status came much later in life.

How did her legacy impact your personal journey?
It created pressure and pride at the same time. Being the son of the Mother India star means expectations are always high—but it also gives him a strong identity.

Do strong women still play a role in your life today?
Yes. Sanjay clearly points out that he continues to be surrounded by strong women—his sisters and wife—but none match the influence of his mother.

What does remembering Nargis mean to you today?
It’s not just nostalgia. It’s a reminder of values, discipline, and emotional grounding. He calls being her son one of the biggest blessings of his life.
