R Narayana Murthy’s Honest Interview On University Paper Leak Film And Education Reforms

R Narayana Murthy’s Honest Interview On University Paper Leak Film And Education Reforms

What inspired you to make University Paper Leak?
The film is inspired by real scams like the Vyapam scandal and recent paper leaks in Gujarat, Odisha, UP, Bihar, and Delhi. These leaks destroy knowledge, push students into depression, and even cause suicides.

Why do you compare copying and cheating to atom bombs or tsunamis?
Because while natural disasters destroy property, cheating destroys knowledge and the future of entire generations, which is even more dangerous.

What is your biggest concern with the privatization of education?
Many private colleges run education like a business. Parents are forced to sell property or even organs to pay huge fees, and still, children suffer due to corruption and false promises.

What solution do you suggest for the current education crisis?
Nationalize education and healthcare. Strengthen government institutions and treat education and jobs as fundamental rights for all.

How do you view the language debate in education?
English is important for global competition, but we must also respect mother tongues like Telugu. I oppose the forceful imposition of Hindi and support a balanced approach.

What do you want the audience to take away from University Paper Leak?
This film is not just entertainment but a movement. I want people to vote wisely, demand reforms, punish the guilty, and ensure fair opportunities for all students.
