Peddi Movie Director Interview: Ram Charan’s Mind-Blowing Transformation

Ram Charan’s performance and transformation in Peddi?
Charan’s performance is mind-blowing, and his transformation in Peddi is extraordinary. The role is impactful and stays with the audience, especially when watched with family.

How long did the journey of making Peddi take?
After the blockbuster Uppenan, it took almost five years to bring Peddi. Convincing Charan with the story took around two and a half years, and filming completed in about one and a half years.

Special preparation for sports backdrop?
Cricket is familiar, but wrestling required extra care. We brought trainers from Dangal and Telangana wrestlers, and Charan trained for three to four months in wrestling.

Was the story originally meant for NTR?
No, Peddi’s story is completely different, designed specifically for Ram Charan.

How was Charan convinced for this role?
It wasn’t easy. He agreed because he liked the story. The story was designed to suit his interest in sports drama.

Importance of Peddi’s success for the industry?
Every successful movie is important for the industry, directors, heroes, and everyone involved. Peddi’s success is crucial at this point.

About Shivraj Kumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma roles?
Shivraj Kumar plays a guru guiding the protagonist, Jagapathi Babu’s role is powerful, and Divyendu Sharma’s role is equally intense.

About Janvi Kapoor’s character?
Janvi Kapoor adds special color to the film. She is intelligent, dedicated, and her performance in the love track stands out.

How does the movie compare to Puspha in terms of impact?
Peddi stays in the audience’s heart. It’s highly emotional and commercially strong. The audience will connect with the sport and the lessons it teaches.

Charan’s injuries during shooting?
He sustained several injuries, especially during wrestling scenes. One incident made me really worried, but it was all managed safely.

Ram Charan’s transformation stages?
We divided Charan’s journey into three stages, designing each look in AI, and his transformation was mind-blowing compared to our design.

Climax of the movie?
It’s an organic presentation of a commercial hero, which viewers must experience on the big screen. Feedback says it’s extraordinary.

About the soundtrack and songs?
ARR Rahman composed two major songs, including Massa Massa. Charan loved the tunes, and Anantha Sriram contributed brilliant lyrics.

Budget comparison?
The first film was 25 crores, and Peddi’s budget is 350 crores, made possible because of Charan’s star power.

It’s a must-watch with family, emotional, powerful, and impactful. Charan is the main highlight, and it teaches life lessons through sports.
