Kayadu Lohar is preparing for the release of The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela and starring Nani in the lead role. The actress says the film offered her a demanding character that is completely different from her real-life personality. Kayadu discusses the patience required for the role, the difficulty of performing in a different language and her ambition to become known for meaningful, performance-oriented characters.

What attracted you to The Paradise?

The role gave me an opportunity to enter a world that was very different from my personality and previous work. I found the character challenging, and that became one of the main reasons I wanted to be part of the film.

What made this character difficult to portray?

The character required considerable patience and effort. I had to understand her emotional journey and respond naturally to situations that were unfamiliar to me. It was not a role that could be performed without preparation.

How different is the character from your real-life personality?

She is very different from who I am in everyday life. That contrast made the role exciting, but it also increased the difficulty. I had to leave behind my usual behaviour and completely enter the character’s emotional space.

Was language one of the biggest challenges?

Yes, language was a major challenge during filming. Every take carried additional pressure because I had to concentrate on pronunciation, dialogue delivery, expressions and emotions simultaneously.

Did the language barrier affect your confidence?

It made the process stressful, particularly in emotionally demanding scenes. However, it also encouraged me to prepare more seriously. With patience and repeated practice, I gradually became more comfortable with the requirements of the role.

What did you learn while working on the film?

The experience taught me the importance of patience and preparation. A demanding character cannot be approached casually. The role helped me understand how much effort is required to make a performance feel believable.

Do you expect The Paradise to change your screen image?

I hope audiences see me differently after watching the film. I do not want to be viewed only as a commercial heroine. I want to explore varied characters and prove that I can contribute meaningfully as an actor.

What kind of projects do you want to choose next?

I want to be part of meaningful stories that offer substantial roles. Recognition as an actor and artist is important to me, and I hope to work with filmmakers who give me opportunities to explore different emotions and characters.

How was the experience of working on a large-scale production?

The scale of The Paradise made the experience special. Working under Srikanth Odela’s direction and being part of a film led by Nani gave me an opportunity to learn while handling a role that demanded significant emotional and technical preparation.

What can audiences expect from your performance?

Audiences can expect to see a side of me that is different from my real personality and previous screen appearances. The role required patience, commitment and effort, and I hope those qualities are visible in the final performance.
