Backlash Grows Against Rajendra Prasad’s On-Stage Talk

Backlash Grows Against Rajendra Prasad’s On-Stage Talk

Veteran Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad is under scrutiny following a series of controversial public statements that have upset fans and raised concerns about his public image. Known for decades as a beloved and respected figure in South Indian cinema, Prasad’s recent behavior has left many wondering if he is jeopardizing the goodwill he built over the years.

The issue began at a public celebration for director SV Krishna Reddy’s birthday, where Rajendra Prasad made surprising on-stage comments involving fellow actor Ali, actresses Roja and Nirosha, and actor Murali Mohan. The most criticized among these were his remarks about comedian Ali, which quickly went viral online and drew sharp criticism from fans and media alike.

Instead of offering an apology or clarifying his intentions, Rajendra Prasad responded at another film function by blaming the audience. “If you do not understand me, that is your fate. I cannot help it. If you find fault with me, it shows your upbringing,” he said. The dismissive tone angered many, who expected humility and accountability from a veteran of his stature.

While Rajendra Prasad has previously issued apologies for comments related to cricketer David Warner and indirect criticism of the film Pushpa, this time he chose to double down. Some speculate that repeated backlash has left him fatigued and defensive, while others feel he’s becoming disconnected from the values of the audience that supported him for so long.

Comedian Ali, one of the people mentioned in the controversial comments, attempted to ease the tension by releasing a video message. In it, he urged the public not to judge Rajendra Prasad too harshly, citing the actor’s personal grief after the loss of his daughter as a possible cause for his erratic behavior.

However, those close to the actor have reportedly advised him to exercise restraint during public appearances. Whether or not he takes this advice seriously remains to be seen. If his confrontational approach continues, it could further alienate fans and damage a career that has been built on charm, humility, and relatability.

For an actor as seasoned and celebrated as Rajendra Prasad, handling criticism with grace could go a long way in preserving the legacy he has worked so hard to build. But with every public misstep, the risk grows that admiration may turn into disappointment something no star, no matter how iconic, is immune to.
