Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered a historic $927 million worldwide opening, finishing just behind Avengers: Endgame. The Tom Holland film also crossed ₹300 crore gross in India during its extended four-day opening weekend.
Spider-Man Brand New Day Delivers Historic Opening
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has taken the worldwide box office by storm, collecting an estimated $927 million during its opening weekend. The superhero film registered the second-biggest global debut in cinema history, behind only Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
The extraordinary opening included approximately $355 million from the United States and Canada and another $572 million from international markets. China emerged as one of the film’s strongest overseas territories, contributing about $121 million to the opening total.
The film has already moved close to the $1 billion milestone within its first few days in theatres. Its record-breaking performance confirms that Spider-Man remains one of the most commercially powerful superhero characters worldwide, even as several other comic-book films have struggled to attract audiences in recent years.
Spider-Man Crosses ₹300 Crore In India
The Tom Holland-starrer also created box-office history in India by crossing ₹300 crore gross during its extended four-day opening weekend. Early tracking estimates place its four-day India gross at approximately ₹308.46 crore, with the net collection reaching around ₹257.95 crore.
On its fourth day alone, the film reportedly collected approximately ₹77.75 crore net across more than 18,000 shows. Strong demand for English, Hindi and regional-language versions helped the movie attract audiences across major cities and smaller centres.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now among the fastest Hollywood releases to cross the ₹300 crore gross mark in India. Premium-format screenings, dubbed versions, family audiences and the popularity of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man contributed significantly to the record-breaking performance.
Second-Biggest Global Opening Ever
With a $927 million debut, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has secured the second position among the biggest worldwide opening weekends. Avengers: Endgame continues to hold the top spot after earning more than $1.2 billion during its opening weekend in 2019.
Brand New Day also earned approximately $355 million in the domestic North American market, narrowly missing the opening record held by Endgame. Its performance exceeded industry expectations and reportedly helped produce the highest-grossing overall weekend in North American box-office history.
The achievement is particularly significant because the film managed to post these numbers while facing competition from other major summer releases. Its strong audience response and positive early reviews are expected to support its collections during the weekdays and second weekend.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Strengthens Marvel And Sony
Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film also features Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink in important roles.
The movie follows Peter Parker as he attempts to rebuild his life after the world forgets his identity. Its combination of emotional storytelling, action and familiar characters appears to have connected strongly with both longtime Marvel fans and younger audiences.
The spectacular opening is a major victory for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. With the worldwide total already nearing $1 billion and India contributing more than ₹300 crore gross, the film is positioned to become one of the highest-grossing superhero releases of all time.
