Jawan review: Mass, Mass, More Mass

Jawan review: Mass, Mass, More Mass
  • 07 Sep 2023 01:30 AM

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made a scorching comeback with  Pathaan which was a box office blockbuster. Now he is back at this mass action genre with his latest outing Jawan which released today. Let us see what the film has to offer.

Story:

Jawan(SRK) sets out on a mission to take on the society that had wronged him and inflicted personal harm to him. What is the story behind his pain and suffering? How does he take on thesociety? The answers to these questions form the rest of the plot.

How did the actors perform?

SRK is a mass superstar and it is a treat to see him in his element. Him working with Atlee, a South director who is famous for elevating his heroes to a whole new level works like a charm for him with Jawan.

Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Sanjay Dutt and others perform well but the main man SRK is the one who steal the show.

What about the technical finesse?

The film has a lavishly shot vibe, thanks to some excellent work from the man behind the lend. The visual composition is of top tier quality. The quality of the CGI is questionable though, we must say.

Analysis:

Jawan is a properly packaged mass commercial film that has SRK in multiple-shaded character. He plays a character with multiple shades and excels in all of them. Atlee taps into the mass beast in SRK with Jawan.

The hero introduction block is one of the best ever in recent times and Atlee turns a fanboy for SRK with the same. The interval block is equally good and this works the trick for the film.

The film is essentially a message-oriented actioner which taps into the commercial appeal of SRK. He is in full flow in these multiple shaded characters and that works out well for the film.

The overdose of action sequences might not sit well with a few but for the masses, this film strike the chord. The story, in itself has nothing new. But expecting a packed story from Atlee would be out fault. He promises a commercial entertainer and that is what he delivers, leaving story to the air.

The climax portion is alright as it ends on a very predictable now. The film delivers multiple messages to the audience and this is a new face that Atlee has tapped into.

Verdict:

Jawan is a mass actioner that shows the mass side of SRK in the most raw and intense manner. He runs the show with his fiery performance and his fans simply couldn't have asked for more.

Rating: 3/5
