Hridayapoorvam : Latest Malayalam Movie Review

Hridayapoorvam : Latest Malayalam Movie Review

Plot:
Hridayapoorvam tells the story of a family navigating love, laughter, and challenges in a way only Sathyan Anthikad can deliver. The film explores relationships, humour, and life’s little lessons while keeping the narrative light-hearted.

Overview:
The movie marks the much-awaited reunion of Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad after nearly a decade. Released as an Onam festive treat, the film opened to packed theatres with fans celebrating the nostalgia and freshness that the duo brings. The story maintains Sathyan’s signature style—blending humour, emotion, and realism—making it relatable and entertaining for family audiences.

Performances:
Mohanlal shines as always with effortless humour, warmth, and depth, reminding audiences why he is Lalettan. Malavika Mohanan delivers a strong performance, holding her own alongside the superstar. Sangeeth Prathap is the surprise package, bringing energy and laughs in every scene. Sangita, Siddique, Lalu Alex, and Baburaj provide solid support, while the chemistry between Mohanlal and Sangeeth steals the show.

Technical Aspects:
The film’s screenplay by Sonu TP is crisp, filled with humour and emotional resonance, while Akhil Sathyan’s story stays true to the Anthikad school of cinema. Cinematographer Anu Moothedath captures vibrant visuals that elevate the grounded narrative, and Antony Perumbavoor ensures rich production values under Aashirvad Cinemas.

Music:
Justin Prabhakaran’s music suits the film’s tone perfectly. The songs are pleasant, though not chartbusters, and the background score flows seamlessly with the narrative.

Editing:
The editing is neat and ensures smooth flow. The runtime feels balanced, and the absence of unnecessary melodrama keeps the story engaging throughout.

Positives:

  • Mohanlal’s performance and screen presence
  • Strong humour and family-friendly entertainment
  • Excellent chemistry between Mohanlal and Sangeeth
  • Sathyan Anthikad’s signature storytelling
  • Relatable, grounded narrative

Negatives:

  • Lacks big standout moments
  • Music is good but not memorable
  • Some emotional beats feel predictable

Analysis:
Hridayapoorvam is exactly what Onam audiences hoped for: a clean, fun-filled, and heartwarming family entertainer. Sathyan Anthikad and Mohanlal’s reunion is worth the wait, as they deliver a film that mixes humour, charm, and emotion in the right measure. Though it doesn’t break new ground, it successfully captures the festive spirit and entertains without going overboard. Fans and families looking for a stress-free watch will find Hridayapoorvam thoroughly satisfying.

Bottomline: Festive Winner

Rating: 3.5/5
