Bhimaa Review: Dated Actioner

Bhimaa Review: Dated Actioner
  • 08 Mar 2024 12:21 PM

Action hero Gopichand is back at it with Bhimaa which is promoted as a slick action potboiler. Here is our review of the film.

Story: Bhimaa(Gopichand) is a sincere police officer and feisty one at it. He takes up the responsibility of taking on the goons in the area who are led by Bhavani and his son Rudra. But the treacherous path that he picks lands him in a tussle. How does he get out of it and break the backs of the goons?

How did the actors perform?

Gopichand is standard in his role. He has the right demeanor for the action packed police officer role and he does a fine job at it. The leading lady is played by Priya Bhavani Shankar and she is alright in her role. The rest of the cast oes an alright performance.

What about the technical finesse?

The film is directed by Harsha and he comes up with a commercial potboiler which progresses along on expected tropes for most parts. The background score is loud, as one would expect from a commercial potboiler and so is the cinematography.

Analysis:

Bhimaa is a standard good cop-bad goon action potboiler and this formulaic approach doesn't offer too much freshness. The action part works the trick though.

The stage-setting revolving around the goons and the police officer is of very formulaic approach and with more fresh narrative, the film could have made for a far better watch. The action part in the latter half and particularly in the climax shaped up well.

Bhavani being a goon sets forth a criminal empire in Mahendravaram and an earnest cop(Bhimaa in this case) sets out to demolish it from the roots. This is the kind of commercial storytelling that we have seen many times int he past. The same thing is seen again in Bhimaa.

The climax part with the exhilarating action part works the trick though. The loud BGM an slick action shots are merged very well. It ends the film on a high, but the shortcomings on the storytelling front through the course of the film is just too much to handle.

Analysis: Bhimaa is a routine commercial actioner that has decent action part but a very formulaic story setting. Fresher approach with regard to the storytelling could have worked well. It is a sub-par actioner as a whole.

Rating: 2.25/5
