Trump warns Iran strikes could get worse

Trump warns of harsher strikes

US President Donald Trump warned that American military strikes on Iran would intensify if Tehran continued attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz, raising the stakes in an already volatile confrontation. In a social media post, Trump said the latest US action was retaliation for what he described as Iran’s bombing of commercial vessels a day earlier, adding that if it happened again, the response would become “much worse.” His warning came as the United States carried out another round of strikes on Iranian targets after attacks on shipping near the vital energy route.

Explosions reported along Iran coast

Iranian state media reported explosions across several southern coastal areas after the US strikes. Reports said warplanes were heard over Kish Island, while blasts were reported in Bandar Abbas, Konarak and Chabahar. Parts of Chabahar also experienced a power outage following the strikes, according to Iranian reporting. The full extent of damage or casualties was not immediately confirmed, and Iranian authorities had not provided a complete assessment of the targeted sites.

Iran threatens retaliation

The latest escalation followed US claims that Iran had attacked commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes. US Central Command has said recent operations were aimed at protecting commercial traffic and imposing costs for attacks on civilian-crewed ships in international waters. Iran has denied accepting US pressure and has warned that it will respond to attacks on its territory and interests.

Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Iran would respond forcefully to what he called the “aggressor enemy” and its allies. His statement, carried through IRGC-linked channels, warned of “severe punishment” for those responsible. For US-based readers, the key concern is whether repeated strikes and threats around Hormuz could disrupt oil flows, widen the conflict and further weaken diplomacy between Washington and Tehran.
