US–Israel–Iran War | Iran alleges strike near Bushehr nuclear plant amid rising tensions
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization on Tuesday reported that a projectile struck within the perimeter of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, alleging that the attack was carried out by the United States and Israel. In an official statement, the agency described the incident as part of continued aggression by what it termed the “American-Zionist enemy.” Authorities said the projectile landed inside the facility’s enclosure but confirmed that initial assessments found no financial losses, technical damage, or casualties. Officials added that all sections of the plant remain safe and fully operational.

The International Atomic Energy Agency acknowledged the development in a statement, noting it had been informed by Iran about the incident. According to the agency, there was no damage to the nuclear power plant itself and no injuries to staff, with the overall condition of the facility described as normal. IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi reiterated calls for maximum restraint, warning that any escalation in conflict near nuclear infrastructure could pose serious safety risks.

The latest report follows a similar incident last week, when the UN nuclear watchdog said a projectile struck the premises of Iran’s only operational nuclear power plant. That strike reportedly hit an area near a metrology service building, located close to the plant’s operating power unit. Russian state media, citing Rosatom chief Alexey Likhachev, indicated that the impact occurred in proximity to sensitive operational zones, raising concerns about potential risks even without direct damage.

The repeated incidents have intensified concerns among international observers about the safety of nuclear facilities in conflict zones. While no immediate damage has been reported in either case, experts warn that continued military activity near such sites increases the risk of a larger nuclear safety crisis. The IAEA has continued to urge all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize the protection of critical infrastructure amid ongoing regional tensions.
