Telangana Panchayat Polls: Congress Takes Big Lead Over BRS and BJP

The Telangana electoral landscape is witnessing a significant development through the ongoing Panchayat elections, which are progressing smoothly across the state. The verdict being delivered by the rural electorate is proving to be a strong indicator of the prevailing political scenario in Telangana.

Statistical trends emerging from the results clearly suggest a commanding lead for the ruling Congress party over its rivals, BRS and BJP. Congress has secured 4,538 seats, while BRS stands at 2,342, BJP at 445, and Independent candidates at 1,152. These numbers indicate that Congress candidates are nearly double those of the next strongest competitor, BRS, underlining the party’s dominance in rural Telangana.

The results also suggest that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy continues to enjoy strong public mandate even a couple of years after assuming office. While BRS, which struggled in the MP elections, still retains its position as the second-largest political force in the state, BJP remains a distant third with barely 10 percent of the rural strength compared to Congress.

Overall, the numbers confirm that rural Telangana remains firmly aligned with the Congress party, forming a crucial pillar of strength for Revanth Reddy’s leadership. While BRS has considerable ground to cover in rural areas, it may look to regain momentum in urban regions ahead of the next electoral battle.
