Indian dies in Riyadh airport attack as 11 others injured

Indian dies in Riyadh airport attack as 11 others injured after a deadly strike on King Khalid International Airport. The Hyderabad victim was among 13 people killed, while the Indian Embassy is assisting those affected and the MEA has strongly condemned repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Indian national killed in Riyadh airport attack, 11 others injured

An Indian national from Hyderabad has died from injuries sustained in the deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, while 11 other Indians were among more than 300 people injured, according to the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.

The October 10 attack killed at least 13 people of several nationalities and marked another serious escalation in the security crisis affecting Saudi civilian aviation. Saudi authorities have blamed Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement for the strike, which followed other attacks on airports in the kingdom during the previous week.

Hyderabad victim

The Indian Embassy confirmed that the deceased was from Hyderabad and said officials were in contact with his family. The mission expressed condolences and said it would provide assistance to ensure the early repatriation of his mortal remains to India.

The victim was among foreign nationals killed in the attack. The reported fatalities also included Saudi citizens and people from Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Sudan and the Palestinian territories.

11 Indians injured

Eleven Indian nationals were reported injured in the Riyadh attack. Embassy officials contacted hospitals and Saudi authorities to determine their conditions and provide necessary consular assistance.

The large number of casualties has raised concern among India’s sizeable expatriate community in Saudi Arabia, particularly as airports and other civilian facilities have increasingly become targets amid the regional escalation.

MEA condemns attack

India’s Ministry of External Affairs strongly condemned the October 10 strike and the repeated attacks on Saudi civilian infrastructure.

The ministry described attacks targeting civilians as completely unacceptable and called for an immediate end to such violence. India also expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia in defending its sovereignty and said it hoped peace and normalcy would return to the region quickly.

The condemnation reflects India’s concern both for regional stability and for the safety of millions of Indian citizens living and working across Gulf countries.

Embassy support

The Indian Embassy had already issued an advisory urging Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert, stay indoors when necessary and closely follow instructions from local authorities.

Officials continue to coordinate with Saudi agencies, hospitals and affected families. The embassy’s immediate priorities include monitoring the injured, supporting relatives and completing arrangements for repatriating the Hyderabad victim’s remains.

Riyadh flight suspensions

The continuing attacks have also disrupted air travel. Air India, IndiGo and Akasa Air had suspended Riyadh services as security concerns intensified around King Khalid International Airport.

Earlier strikes on October 6 and 7 reportedly hit King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport, killing three people and injuring dozens.

The October 10 attack significantly raised the stakes, with a much higher casualty toll and hundreds injured. For Indian travellers and residents in Saudi Arabia, authorities continue to advise caution as the security situation remains fluid and airlines assess when normal Riyadh operations can safely resume.
