Macron’s Hindi message draws attention
French President Emmanuel Macron ended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France with a personal farewell message in Hindi, adding a warm diplomatic touch to the high-profile engagement between the two leaders. The message was shared after Modi’s visit and quickly drew attention because of Macron’s effort to address the Indian Prime Minister in Hindi.
In the video, Macron referred to Modi as a dear friend and expressed happiness over the visit. He also said that the friendship between France and India should remain eternal, before smiling and asking whether he had spoken correctly. The gesture stood out as a symbolic moment in India France diplomacy, where public messaging often reflects the broader tone of bilateral relations.
Macron later switched to English and thanked Modi for the visit, calling it fruitful and emphasizing the friendship between the two countries. He also said France looked forward to seeing Modi again soon and ended his remarks with “Jai Hind.” The Hindi message added a personal layer to the diplomatic exchange and reinforced the visible rapport between Emmanuel Macron and Narendra Modi.
Modi and Macron review strategic cooperation
The farewell message came during Modi’s visit linked to the G7 Summit, where he participated in discussions and held meetings with several world leaders, including US President Donald Trump. The visit also included bilateral engagement with Macron, reflecting the importance both sides place on strategic cooperation.
Earlier, Modi and Macron met at Villa Kerylos in Nice for talks held against the backdrop of the French coastline. The meeting was their first bilateral discussion since India and France elevated their relationship to a Special Global Strategic Partnership earlier this year. Both leaders reviewed the progress of ties and discussed ways to expand cooperation in key sectors.
Defence ties remained a major focus of the discussions. The two sides expressed satisfaction over the growth of cooperation and agreed to deepen collaboration through co-design, co-development and co-production of defence platforms and advanced technologies. The emphasis on joint development reflects a wider effort to build long-term defence and technology links rather than limit the partnership to traditional purchases or agreements.
The Modi Macron meeting also highlighted the steady expansion of France India relations beyond ceremonial diplomacy. With defence, technology and strategic partnership at the center of talks, the visit underlined how both governments are working to strengthen cooperation while maintaining a visible public bond between their leaders.
