Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met with members of the seven multi-party delegations that recently completed a global diplomatic outreach as part of Operation Sindoor India’s strong posturing against terrorism after the April 22 Pahalgam attack. The meeting was held at the PM’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi, where Modi was seen warmly interacting with MPs, former parliamentarians, and senior diplomats who participated in the effort.
The delegates had visited over 30 countries to counter Pakistan’s narrative on the Kashmir issue and to highlight India’s commitment to combat terrorism at a global level. Their primary objective was to brief foreign governments about the terror attack in Pahalgam and India’s precision strikes that followed under Operation Sindoor. This unprecedented outreach was praised for its bipartisan composition and coordinated national message.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who led the delegation to the US, Brazil, and Colombia, took to social media to thank the Prime Minister for the opportunity. “We are all grateful for the opportunity to be of service to the nation, Pradhan Mantriji @narendramodi! Jai Hind,” Tharoor wrote on X. Other prominent leaders who headed different regional delegations included Ravi Shankar Prasad, Baijayant Panda, Kanimozhi, Sanjay Jha, Supriya Sule, Shrikant Shinde, and Asaduddin Owaisi, among others.
Each team focused on a different region from North and South America to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Their agendas included engaging in strategic dialogues, addressing disinformation campaigns, and seeking cooperation on counter-terror initiatives. The External Affairs Ministry acknowledged their efforts, with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar previously holding a separate debriefing session and praising the effectiveness of their engagements.
The PM’s meeting with the delegates marked the culmination of a key diplomatic campaign launched after India’s precision strikes on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam attack. The participation of leaders across party lines was viewed as a deliberate move to showcase national unity on an issue as grave as cross-border terrorism. Operation Sindoor and its diplomatic wing not only showcased India’s military response but also reinforced its narrative globally underscoring that terrorism sponsored from across the border would be met with both strategic force and diplomatic solidarity.
