The summer special superfast train between Chennai Egmore and Kanyakumari will start operating from May 15, 2026.  Southern Railway has announced special superfast train services between Chennai and Kanyakumari. The decision was taken after a sharp rise in travel demand on southern routes connecting major cities and tourist destinations. The additional services are expected to provide relief to passengers struggling to get confirmed tickets during the busy vacation period. Thousands of travelers including families, students, tourists, and migrant workers are expected to benefit from the newly announced services. According to railway authorities, the Chennai Egmore–Kanyakumari Summer Special Superfast Express will depart from Chennai Egmore at 5.20 PM and reach Kanyakumari at 6.50 AM the next day. In the return direction, the Kanyakumari–Chennai Egmore Summer Special Superfast Express will leave Kanyakumari at 3.15 PM and arrive in Chennai Egmore at 4.55 AM the following morning. The trains will halt at several major stations across Tamil Nadu and Kerala to improve connectivity for passengers traveling to important destinations in the southern region. Railway officials stated that the special trains will operate on selected summer dates and will include sleeper class, AC coaches, and general compartments to accommodate different categories of passengers. Authorities have advised travelers to book tickets early through official Indian Railways reservation portals and authorized booking counters as heavy demand is expected. Southern Railway also mentioned that additional staff and onboard support teams may be deployed to ensure smooth train operations and passenger convenience during the peak holiday travel season. The announcement has been welcomed by regular commuters and tourists planning visits to popular destinations such as Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Madurai, and nearby regions. Every year, travel demand between Chennai and Kanyakumari increases significantly during school holidays and festival periods, leading to long waiting lists on regular trains. With the introduction of these summer special superfast services, Indian Railways aims to reduce passenger congestion and offer a more comfortable and convenient travel experience across southern India.

Some complainants reportedly said they feared retaliation or career damage if they approached internal grievance channels. POSH Act Compliance Under Scrutiny The NCW report reportedly cited “zero compliance” with key POSH Act safeguards and questioned whether internal complaint systems were trusted or effective. Investigators also flagged weak monitoring, delayed complaint handling and inadequate protection for women employees. The matter is now being viewed not only as an HR failure but as a corporate governance issue. Religious Intimidation Claims Examined The probe also reviewed allegations of religious intimidation and coercive influence at the workplace. Police are reportedly examining WhatsApp chats and digital material linked to the case. The allegations remain under investigation, and the final legal outcome will depend on evidence reviewed by authorities. TCS has reportedly initiated internal action while the case continues to draw national attention.
