The Rekha Gupta Tiranga Yatra brought young participants to Kartavya Path in New Delhi ahead of Independence Day. The event highlighted Har Ghar Tiranga, patriotic Delhi events, youth participation and the national flag as a symbol of unity and sacrifice.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta joined a Tiranga Yatra at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Wednesday, August 12, as the capital stepped up patriotic activities ahead of Independence Day. Thousands of participants, including a large number of young people, walked with the national flag and raised patriotic slogans along the ceremonial avenue.
Gupta’s official X account carried updates related to her participation in the Tiranga Yatra at Kartavya Path, confirming her involvement in the programme. The gathering turned the area around India Gate and Kartavya Path into a visible display of national pride, with Tricolours carried throughout the march.
HarGharTiranga
Addressing the gathering, Gupta urged Delhi residents to take part in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by hoisting the national flag at their homes. Her official social media account has also promoted the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign, which is being observed from August 9 to August 17.
Gupta said the Tricolour goes beyond its three colours and represents the country’s pride, honour, self-respect and the sacrifices of freedom fighters. She called for the campaign to reach streets, neighbourhoods and homes across Delhi, giving citizens a direct role in the Independence Day celebrations.
Delhi events
The yatra formed part of a wider series of patriotic programmes being held ahead of August 15. Participants carrying the Tiranga and chanting “Vande Mataram” added to the Independence Day atmosphere in the national capital.
Gupta said the stretch between India Gate and Kartavya Path connects memories of India’s sacrifices with the responsibilities of the present and aspirations for the future. In her social media remarks, she portrayed the widespread display of the Tricolour as a symbol of unity, self-respect and commitment to the nation.
Nitin Nabin
BJP national president Nitin Nabin was present during the event, according to the information released around the programme. Senior Delhi BJP leaders and ministers also participated, underlining the party’s focus on expanding public involvement in the Independence Day campaign.
The presence of political leaders alongside young participants gave the march both an official and community character, while the national flag remained the central focus of the gathering.
Youth march
Young people formed a major part of the Tiranga Yatra, walking along Kartavya Path with national flags and patriotic slogans. Their participation reflected the campaign’s wider effort to connect Independence Day with public involvement rather than limiting celebrations to official ceremonies.
Gupta also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with helping turn Har Ghar Tiranga into a broader public campaign. With Independence Day approaching, the Delhi government’s message centred on encouraging families and communities to display the national flag responsibly and make the celebrations a shared expression of patriotism.
