D4vd cancels US tour dates as teen's body found in Tesla sparks investigation

Singer and viral sensation D4vd has canceled the remaining dates of his United States tour following the discovery of a decomposed body in his impounded Tesla. The 15-year-old girl, identified as Celeste Rivas, was found earlier this month, leading authorities to open a death investigation that has now overshadowed the artist’s career.

The young performer, who rose to fame on TikTok with viral songs like “Romantic Homicide,” had been touring since August, with scheduled stops in Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. While the Portland concert went ahead, shows in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles were canceled as law enforcement continues its inquiry. Details about whether his planned European performances will continue have not yet been released.

The investigation began when employees at a Los Angeles tow yard reported a strong odor from a Tesla registered to the singer. Upon opening the front trunk, officers discovered human remains inside a bag. The body was later identified through forensic analysis as belonging to Celeste Rivas, a 15-year-old from Riverside County who had been missing since April 2024. Authorities confirmed that the remains were not intact and are awaiting additional forensic results to determine the cause and time of death.

Family members of Rivas, who disappeared while heading out to see a movie with her brother, have confirmed that she had known the singer. Her brother described the family’s grief and said they were devastated by the confirmation of her death. The identification was supported by a distinctive tattoo on her right index finger with the word “Shhh,” which had been mentioned in early reports.

Police have stated that the case is currently classified as a death investigation rather than a homicide, as the coroner has not yet determined the exact mode or manner of death. Investigators recently searched a home in the Hollywood Hills, near where the Tesla was originally reported abandoned, and reportedly removed digital devices and evidence bags as they attempt to understand the circumstances surrounding the teen’s death.

Representatives for D4vd said that he has been cooperating fully with authorities. Despite continuing his performances briefly after the discovery, his decision to cancel the remaining U.S. tour dates reflects the mounting pressure of the ongoing investigation. His team has not released further comment regarding his legal situation or future touring plans.

Born David Burke in Queens, New York, the singer relocated to Texas in his early teens. Before music, he gained an online following playing Fortnite and streaming video games on YouTube. His shift into music led to several viral hits, building him an audience of millions across platforms, especially TikTok. This popularity helped secure record deals with major labels and culminated in the release of his debut album “Withered” in April, followed by the start of his world tour.

D4vd’s growing career is now overshadowed by the grim discovery that has placed him at the center of a high-profile investigation. Authorities are continuing to piece together details about Rivas’ disappearance, her connection to the singer, and the circumstances that led to her remains being found in his vehicle. For now, the music world waits to see how this unfolding story will affect one of its most rapidly rising stars.
