CENTCOM shows naval blockade operations in North Arabian Sea amid truce

A newly released video by United States Central Command highlights continued US military readiness and naval operations in the North Arabian Sea, even as a ceasefire extension remains in place. The footage, published shortly after Donald Trump announced an extension of the truce, underscores the United States’ ongoing strategic posture amid regional uncertainty and stalled diplomatic efforts.

The video presents a series of coordinated operations, including aircraft launches, carrier deck activity, and Marine boarding procedures, demonstrating what officials described as a “rearmed and retooled” force. It features major naval assets such as the USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Tripoli, and USS Spruance, along with scenes involving the USS Michael Murphy enforcing blockade measures. Sailors are seen directing merchant vessels, while fighter jets from carrier air wings conduct takeoffs and maneuvers, reflecting sustained operational tempo.

In a statement accompanying the release, CENTCOM emphasized its adaptability during the ceasefire, noting that forces are actively adjusting tactics, techniques, and procedures. The message appears aimed at reinforcing deterrence, particularly toward Iran, as uncertainty continues over future negotiations. Officials reiterated that US forces remain fully prepared to respond to evolving developments in the region.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts remain unclear. The ceasefire extension reportedly followed requests from Pakistan’s leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, there has been no confirmation of Iran’s participation in planned discussions in Islamabad. The White House has indicated that Vice President JD Vance and the US delegation will not attend the talks, adding to speculation about their outcome.

Iran’s envoy to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has suggested that progress in negotiations could depend on the lifting of the naval blockade. At the same time, heightened security measures have been implemented across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with thousands of personnel deployed to maintain stability during the sensitive period.
