Nitish Kumar has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time, solidifying his long-standing political dominance in the state. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan, a venue that has witnessed several milestone political events over the decades. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the ceremony, marking his presence for the first time since skipping the 2020 oath-taking. The event drew national attention as leaders from across the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gathered, showcasing the alliance’s collective strength and support for Kumar’s new term.
The gathering at Gandhi Maidan also carried historical weight, as the venue is known for Jayaprakash Narayan’s 1974 call for a total revolution. Nitish Kumar’s repeated return to power at this symbolic location added depth to the occasion. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath, affirming the state’s political continuity under Kumar’s leadership.
The event saw a significant turnout from NDA Chief Ministers and national leaders, underlining the alliance’s message of unity. Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio, and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami were among those present. Their attendance emphasized the political weight behind Kumar’s leadership and the wider support he continues to receive. LJP (RV) chief Chirag Paswan also took part in the ceremony, further highlighting the cohesive presence of major political figures. Nitish Kumar’s 10th swearing-in not only reinforces his enduring influence but also showcases his consistent role in shaping Bihar’s governance. His new term is expected to continue his long association with the state’s development and political stability.
