An Iranian man has reportedly taken his own life after recording and sharing a video message in which he appealed directly to former US President Donald Trump to halt any diplomatic engagement with Iran’s current leadership. The man, identified by activists and Iranian media as Pouria Hamidi, was from the southern port city of Bushehr. His death has drawn renewed attention to ongoing political tensions inside Iran and the wider international debate surrounding Tehran’s relations with Washington.
The 10-minute video, recorded in English, began circulating widely on social media platforms over the weekend. In the recording, Hamidi sought to draw international focus to what he described as a severe and ongoing crackdown on anti-government protests in Iran. He claimed that domestic opposition groups were unable to confront the authorities without outside pressure and urged the United States to abandon negotiations with Iran’s ruling establishment.
In the video, Hamidi stated that foreign intervention was, in his view, the only remaining option for protesters. He suggested that demonstrators had continued their actions with the belief that international pressure would eventually follow. At the start of his message, he said he might not be alive by the time the video was watched, a statement that has since taken on heightened significance following reports of his death.
