Pak PML Leader Threatens India Over Bangladesh, Calls for Military Alliance

A fresh political controversy has erupted in South Asia after a leader from Pakistan’s ruling party issued a direct warning to India over Bangladesh. Pakistan Muslim League youth wing leader Kamran Saeed Usmani released a video statement on Tuesday, threatening a strong military response if India were to take any action against Bangladesh. His remarks have triggered widespread reactions, raising concerns about escalating rhetoric in the region.

Usmani said Pakistan would not tolerate any attempt to undermine Bangladesh’s autonomy. He warned that if India attacked Bangladesh or even “cast an evil eye” on its sovereignty, Pakistan’s people, armed forces, and missile systems would respond. The comments were made in the context of what Usmani described as India’s alleged efforts to impose its ideology on neighbouring countries.

Usmani claimed that Pakistan rejects what he referred to as India’s “Akhand Bharat ideology” and accused New Delhi of attempting to push Bangladesh into India’s ideological dominance. He alleged that India was trying to destabilise Bangladesh and warned that Pakistan had previously placed India in difficult situations and could do so again if required.

Taking the rhetoric further, Usmani outlined a hypothetical regional conflict scenario, suggesting that Pakistan could apply pressure from the western front, Bangladesh from the eastern side, while China focuses on areas such as Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh. Though speculative, his comments were widely viewed as provocative and aimed at signalling a show of strength.

The PML leader also accused India’s Border Security Force of disturbing Bangladesh and claimed that India was attempting to weaken Bangladesh to establish a Hindu state under the Akhand Bharat concept. These claims, however, have not been backed by any official evidence and were presented as political assertions.

In a separate video message, Usmani went a step further by openly calling for a formal military alliance between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He proposed that both countries allow each other to establish military bases on their territories, claiming that such an arrangement would significantly strengthen strategic control in the region.

According to Usmani, linking the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with Bangladesh’s ports would alter regional power dynamics. He argued that control over ports and sea routes determines global influence and that a Pakistan-Bangladesh partnership could play a major role in South Asian geopolitics.

The remarks come at a time when regional tensions and political narratives remain sensitive. While Usmani holds no official government or defence portfolio, his statements have drawn attention due to his affiliation with the ruling party led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. As of now, there has been no official response from India, Bangladesh, or the Pakistani government regarding these comments. Analysts note that such statements, though made by individual political figures, can contribute to heightened tensions if left unchecked. The situation highlights the fragile nature of regional diplomacy and the impact of aggressive political rhetoric on South Asia’s already complex security environment.
