Denmark work permit 2027 eligibility: Who can apply?

Denmark work permit 2027 eligibility depends on nationality, a qualifying full-time job offer, minimum salary and employer certification. The new Collective Agreement Scheme begins January 1, 2027. India and the US are among countries expected to qualify, pending official confirmation.

Denmark's new work permit scheme will take effect on January 1, 2027, creating another employment pathway for eligible foreign nationals seeking jobs with certified Danish companies.

The Collective Agreement Scheme will cover citizens of 16 designated countries. However, nationality alone will not guarantee eligibility. Applicants must also meet salary, employment and employer certification requirements.

Denmark work permit eligible countries

Immigration advisory reports identify the following 16 countries as expected to qualify:

India, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, Singapore, Brazil, Malaysia, Albania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine.

However, Denmark's immigration authority, SIRI, has not yet published the finalized official country list. Applicants should verify their nationality's eligibility when the government releases its application guidance.

Denmark work permit requirements for applicants

Under the new scheme, foreign workers must meet several conditions:

  • Hold citizenship from an eligible country.
  • Secure a full-time job with a certified Danish employer.
  • Work in a position covered by a qualifying collective agreement.
  • Receive a salary meeting the scheme's minimum threshold.

The program is tied to Denmark's labor market conditions and can operate only when unemployment remains below the government-set limit.

Denmark minimum salary for 2027

The scheme sets a minimum annual salary of DKK 322,000 at the 2026 level, equivalent to approximately DKK 26,833 per month before taxes.

The threshold may be adjusted for 2027. Employment terms must also comply with the relevant collective agreement.

SIRI certified employer requirements

Employers must receive certification from Denmark's Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) before recruiting workers through the scheme.

Among other conditions, qualifying employers must have operated for at least two years, employ at least 10 full-time workers in Denmark and satisfy the applicable collective agreement requirements.

When can workers apply?

SIRI expects employer certification applications to open in early December 2026.

The new work permit scheme becomes effective on January 1, 2027, when residence and work permit applications can begin being processed.

SIRI will publish additional application instructions on its official website.

For prospective workers, the immediate priority is securing a qualifying employment offer and confirming that the employer meets certification requirements. The finalized nationality list and detailed application guidance will provide further clarity before the scheme begins.
