Denmark work permit 2027: How to apply under new scheme

The Denmark work permit 2027 application process will open a new employment pathway through certified Danish employers. SIRI expects employer certification applications in December 2026, with permit processing from January 1, 2027. Applicants must meet nationality, job offer and salary conditions.

Denmark will introduce a new work permit pathway on January 1, 2027, allowing eligible foreign nationals to seek employment with certified Danish companies under the Collective Agreement Scheme.

The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) has announced the launch timeline, although dedicated application forms and detailed submission instructions are still pending.

Denmark work permit application process

The scheme requires employers to obtain SIRI certification before foreign workers can apply for residence and work permits.

Prospective applicants can prepare by following these steps:

  1. Confirm that their nationality qualifies under the designated country list.
  2. Secure a qualifying full-time job offer from a Danish employer.
  3. Check that the position is covered by a relevant collective agreement.
  4. Verify that the offered salary meets the applicable minimum.
  5. Confirm that the employer has obtained SIRI certification.
  6. Follow the official application instructions once SIRI publishes them.

These are preparation steps, not a finalized government application procedure.

Denmark work permit eligibility requirements

The scheme covers citizens of 16 designated countries.

Immigration advisory firms identify India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and several other countries among those expected to qualify. Applicants should verify the final government list before applying.

Employment must be full-time and covered by a qualifying collective agreement.

Denmark work permit salary requirement

Applicants must receive an annual salary of at least DKK 322,000 at the 2026 level, approximately DKK 26,833 per month before taxes.

The salary threshold may change for 2027. Workers should confirm the updated requirement before accepting an employment offer.

Documents needed for a Denmark work permit

SIRI has not yet published a scheme-specific document checklist.

Applicants can prepare their valid passport, employment offer and relevant employment information while awaiting official instructions.

Additional documents, applicable fees and submission requirements will be clarified through SIRI's dedicated application pages.

SIRI work permit application dates

SIRI expects Danish employers to begin applying for certification in early December 2026.

The Collective Agreement Scheme takes effect on January 1, 2027, when residence and work permit applications will begin being processed.

Application pages for both employers and foreign workers are expected to be published on Denmark's official immigration website.

Until those instructions become available, prospective workers should prioritize verifying employer eligibility and securing a qualifying job offer rather than relying on unofficial application procedures.
