Disha, can you tell us about the challenging underwater scene you shot for Raja Shivaji?
Disha Pardeshi:
It was definitely one of the most challenging experiences I’ve had. When I first joined the film, I wasn’t told that I would have to do an underwater sequence for such long hours. I was simply asked if I could swim, but I had no idea the scene would be so intense. It wasn’t just about swimming; I had to perform underwater for nearly 12 hours without using an oxygen mask, which required a lot of training and preparation.
How did you prepare for this difficult underwater scene?
Disha Pardeshi:
To prepare, I trained intensively to act underwater without any assistance like oxygen masks. The training was both physically and mentally exhausting. I spent several hours in the water practicing the scene. It was scary at first, but as I continued, I got more comfortable. I had to focus on my breathing and my performance while staying calm underwater.
What was the most challenging part of shooting this underwater sequence?
Disha Pardeshi:
The most challenging part was definitely the long hours spent underwater. Being in the water for extended periods, especially when you can’t breathe normally, takes a toll. But once you’re in the zone and focused, it becomes easier. The pressure to perform without using any VFX or body doubles was intense, but it pushed me to give my best.
How did Riteish Deshmukh support you during this intense scene?
Disha Pardeshi:
Riteish was incredibly supportive throughout the process. He kept encouraging me and made sure I felt confident and comfortable, even when I had doubts. His belief in me gave me the strength to perform without relying on VFX or body doubles. That support made all the difference in ensuring that I could give an authentic and powerful performance.
What do you hope audiences take away from your performance in Raja Shivaji?
Disha Pardeshi:
I hope audiences see the dedication and effort that went into this performance. It wasn’t just about the physical challenge; it was about embodying the character and showing strength and vulnerability at the same time. I want them to feel connected to the emotions of the scene and the journey of my character, Afzal Khan’s wife. I also hope this performance will inspire others to push their limits and embrace challenges in their own lives.
