Security Alert in Delhi After Bomb Threat Mails Sent to Schools

Several schools in the national capital were placed on high alert on Monday after bomb threat emails were sent to their official email IDs, triggering swift action from security agencies. According to officials, at least ten schools across different parts of Delhi received the threatening emails within a short time window, prompting immediate deployment of police teams, fire services, and bomb disposal squads to conduct thorough security checks on school premises.

As per the information shared by Delhi Police, the threat emails were sent between 8:30 am and 9:00 am, raising concerns during peak school hours when students and staff were present on campus. Upon receiving the alerts, school authorities informed law enforcement agencies, following which emergency protocols were activated. Police personnel, along with teams from the Delhi Fire Service, rushed to the affected schools to assess the situation and ensure the safety of students and staff.

A Delhi Fire Service official confirmed that fire service units reached all locations mentioned in the threat emails and that inspections were ongoing. Classrooms, corridors, school bags, and surrounding areas were being carefully checked as a precautionary measure. In several schools, students were either kept in secure areas or sent home early as part of safety measures, depending on the assessment made by authorities on the ground.

The contents of the threat email have further escalated concerns. The message reportedly contained provocative language, claiming that “Delhi will become Khalistan” and referencing Punjab and the memory of Afzal Guru. In addition to the threats directed at schools, another email allegedly warned of a blast at Parliament scheduled for February 13 at 1:11 pm, prompting heightened vigilance across key locations in the capital.

Police officials have stated that cyber teams are working to trace the origin of the emails and identify those responsible. Authorities have urged the public not to panic, reiterating that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure safety. While no suspicious objects have been found so far, security agencies remain on high alert as investigations continue.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns around hoax threats and their impact on public safety, particularly in sensitive locations like schools. Further updates are expected as Delhi Police continue their probe into the source and intent behind the threatening messages.
